REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

CAUTION
Remove and tape the negative battery cable before servicing the SIR system. Failure to do so can result in accidental deployment and personal injury! Always wear gloves and safety glasses when handling a deployed SIR module and wash your hands with mild soap and water afterwards.

CAUTION
The SIR module should always be carried with the urethane cover away from your body and should always be laid on a flat surface with the urethane side up. This is necessary because a free space is provided to allow the air cushion to expand in the unlikely event of accidental deployment. If so, personal injury may result.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.
  3. Remove the steering wheel and cover as outlined in this Section.
  4.
  5. Disconnect all electrical connectors.

  9. Remove the flexible joint key bolt at the bottom of the shaft.
  10.
  11. Remove column-to-dash board flange bolts.
