Removal & Installation

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the system by using ACR 2000 Air Conditioning Service Center J-43600.

  3. Remove the generator.
  4.  
  5. Remove the drive belt.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the compressor electrical connectors.
    NOTE
    Some system pressure may still exist in the A/C compressor crankcase after you evacuate the system.

  9. Remove the discharge hose bolt from the compressor.
  10.  
  11. Remove the suction hose from the compressor.
  12.  
  13. Remove the compressor hose assembly blocks from the compressor.
  14.  
  15. Remove the compressor mounting bolts from the compressor (1).
  16.  
  17. Remove the compressor.
  18.  
  19. Drain and measure the compressor oil. Complete the following procedure:
    1. Drain the oil from both the suction and discharge ports of the removed compressor into a clean, graduated container. Rotate the compressor shaft to assist in draining the compressor.
    2.  
    3. Measure and record the amount of oil drained from the removed compressor. This measurement will be used during installation of the replacement compressor.
    4.  
    5. Properly discard the used refrigerant oil.

To install:

  1. Adjust the proper amount of oil to the replacement compressor.
  2.  
  3. Install the compressor.
  4.  
  5. Install the compressor mounting bolts to the compressor (1). Tighten the bolts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).

  7. Install the compressor hose assembly blocks to the compressor.

  9. Install the suction hose to the compressor
  10.  
  11. Install the discharge hose bolt to the compressor (1). Tighten the bolts to 24 ft. lbs. (33 Nm).
  12.  
  13. Connect the compressor electrical connectors.
  14.  
  15. Install the drive belt.
  16.  
  17. Install the generator.
  18.  
  19. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system.
  20.  
  21. Leak test the fittings of the components using the Special Tool J-39400-A.
