CAUTION
To prevent dirt ingress into the power steering system, make sure a suitable plug is fitted to the power steering pump to steering gear supply line port whenever the power steering pump to steering gear supply line is disconnected. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.

CAUTION
Extreme care must be exercised when working in the vicinity of the power steering pump pulley to prevent damage to the phenolic pulley. Failure to follow this instruction may result in damage to the vehicle.

NOTE
If the pump is being replaced for leakage or noise related issues and there is no evidence of fluid contamination, there is no need to replace the reservoir.

NOTE
In some cases where the fluid clearly contains particulate matter, and the system continues to function, flush the system with fresh fluid and replace the reservoir, as there is the possibility that the reservoir internal filter may be damaged or faulty.
