The electrical system in all Jeep vehicles is protected from electrical surges by fuses, devices which are designed to break the circuit when a certain amount of amperage is pushed through the fuse. The fuses are designed to break the circuit so that no damage will occur in the electrical components located along the circuit. The amperages, at which the fuses break the circuits, are dependant on the particular circuit being protected; varying components from one circuit to another require different amounts of current for optimal performance.
Refer to the accompanying Fuse Applications chart for proper fuse ratings of the particular vehicle.
