Clutch Slave Cylinder

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

1980-86
  1. Raise and support the truck on jackstands.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the hydraulic line at the cylinder. Cap the line.
  4.  
  5. Unbolt and remove the slave cylinder from the clutch housing.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Torque the mounting bolts to 16 ft. lbs. Refill and bleed the system.

OVERHAUL



1980-86 Models
  1. Clean the outside of the cylinder.
  2.  
  3. Remove the dust boot.
  4.  
  5. Remove the pushrod, boot, plunger and spring as an assembly.
  6.  
  7. Remove the spring and seal from the plunger.
  8.  
  9. Remove the snapring and separate the pushrod and boot from the plunger.
  10.  
  11. Clean all parts and replace the cylinder if the bore is excessively worn, pitted, nicked or corroded. Minor imperfections in the bore can be removed through honing.
  12.  
  13. Rebuild the cylinder using a rebuilding kit. Lubricate all parts with clean brake fluid, including the cylinder bore.
