REMOVAL & INSTALLATION



1971

1971 models have no windshield wiper linkage.

1972-75
  1. Remove the wiper arms and pivot shaft nuts, washers, escutcheons and gaskets.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the drive arm from the motor crank.
  4.  
  5. Remove the individual links where necessary, to remove the pivot shaft bodies without excessive interference.
  6.  
  7. Reverse the procedure for installation.
  8.  

1976-86
  1. Remove the wiper arms.
  2.  
  3. Remove the nuts attaching the pivots to the windshield frame.
  4.  
  5. Remove the hardtop or soft top components from the top of the windshield frame.
  6.  
  7. Remove the windshield holddown bolts and fold the windshield forward.
  8.  
  9. Remove the motor attaching screws.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the wiper motor drive link from the left wiper pivot.
  12.  
  13. Grasp the motor and pull the motor and drive arm from the access hole.
  14.  
  15. Remove the pivot shaft assembly through the access hole.
  16.  
  17. Pry the drive arm off of the motor pivot. DO NOT REMOVE THE PIVOT ATTACHING NUT!
  18.  

To install:
  1. Install the drive arm on the motor pivot.
  2.  
  3. Install the pivot shaft assembly through the access hole.
  4.  
  5. Install the motor and drive arm through the access hole. Torque the motor attaching screws to 96 inch lbs.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the wiper motor drive link from the left wiper pivot.
  8.  
  9. Raise the windshield and install the holddown bolts.
  10.  
  11. Install the hardtop or soft top components at the top of the windshield frame.
  12.  
  13. Turn the wiper motor on and allow it to cycle to the PARK position.
  14.  
  15. Install the wiper arms.
  16.
