FUEL PUMP TESTING Volume Check

Disconnect the fuel line from the carburetor. Place the open end in a one quart metal can. Start the engine and operate it at a normal idle speed. The pump should deliver at least one quart in one minute.

Pressure Check

Disconnect the fuel line at the carburetor. Install a T-fitting on the open end of the fuel line and refit the line to the carburetor. Plug a pressure gauge into the remaining opening of the T-fitting. The hose leading to the pressure gauge should not be any longer than 6 inches. On pumps with a fuel return line, the line must be plugged. Start the engine. Fuel pressures are as follows:

4-134: 2.50-3.75psi @ 1,800 rpm

6-225: 3.75psi minimum @ 600 rpm

6-226: 3.50-5.50psi @ 1,800 rpm

6-230: 3.50-5.50psi @ 600 rpm

6-232: 3.00-5.00psi @ idle

6-258: 3.00-5.00psi @ idle

8-304: 4.00-6.00psi @ idle

8-327: 4.00-5.50psi @ 550rpm

8-350: 4.00-6.00psi @ idle

8-360: 4.00-6.00psi @ idle
