REMOVAL & INSTALLATION Jeepster/Commando



  1. Disconnect the wiring harness from the light switch, wiper switch and heater switch.
  2.  
  3. Loosen the screw securing the cable clamp and remove the levers mounted on the switch panel.
  4.  
  5. Depress the metal spring locking retainers located on both sides of the control panel and remove the switch panel from the dash.
  6.  
  7. Remove the two screws attaching the heater control switch and remove the switch from the control panel.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of removal.

1962-69 Wagoneer and J-Series Truck

  1. Remove the vacuum lines from the heater control. Tag them for installation.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the bowden cable from the control head.
  4.  
  5. Remove the light bulb and disconnect the wiring at the control panel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the two nuts and bracket from the bottom of the control unit.
  8.  
  9. Remove the control unit by pushing it out at the bottom.
  10.  
  11. Installation is the reverse of removal.
  12.  

1970-83 Wagoneer, Cherokee and J-Series Truck

  1. Disconnect the battery ground.
  2.  
  3. Remove the instrument cluster.
  4.  
  5. Remove the control panel attaching screws and lift the control panel from the cluster.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal.
