Column-Mounted Ignition Switch

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

  1. Place the ignition lock in the OFF-LOCK position.
  2.  
  3. Remove the two switch mounting screws.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the switch from the rod.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the wiring and remove the switch.
  8.  
  9. Installation for non-tilt columns:
    1. With the rod disconnected, move the slider to the extreme left (accessory) position. Left is the steering wheel end of the switch.
    2.  
    3. Position the rod in the slider hole and position the switch on the column, with the screws loosely installed.
    4.  
    5. Hold the key in the accessory position and push the switch down the column slightly to remove any slack in the rod. Tighten the screws securely.

    7. Connect the white connector, then the black connector.

  11. Installation for tilt columns:
    1. With the rod disconnected, move the slider to the extreme right (accessory) position. Right is the end of the switch away from the steering wheel.
    2.  
    3. Position the rod in the slider hole and position the switch on the column, with the screws loosely installed.
    4.  
    5. Hold the key in the accessory position and lightly push the switch down the column slightly to remove any slack in the rod. Tighten the screws securely.

    7. Connect the white connector, then the black connector.
