Removal & Installation



Bucket Seats

See Figure 1

Bucket seat platforms are attached to the floor panel with studs and nuts. The trim covers are attached to the platform with either push-on type fasteners or screws.

  1. Remove the seat platform cover fasteners and platform cover.
  2.  
  3. For power seats, disconnect the wire harness connector.
  4.  
  5. Remove the seat retaining nuts and remove the seat from the floor panel.
  6.  
  7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the retaining nuts to 18 ft. lbs. (24 Nm).

Rear Seat

See Figure 2

  1. Disengage the seat cushion at the rear by pulling upward on the release strap.
  2.  
  3. Tilt the seat cushion forward and disengage the seat cushion latch with the release lever knob. Separate the right side latch and the left side seat bracket from the floor anchor bolts, then remove the cushion from the vehicle.

  1. Remove the shoulder/lap belt buckles from the elastic straps. Release the seatback lock.
  2.  
  3. Remove the pivot bolts and the washers from the wheelhouse panel anchors.
  4.  
  5. Tilt the seatback forward, lift it upward and remove from the vehicle.
  6.  

To install:
  1. Position the seatback in the vehicle. Install the pivot bolts/washers and tighten to 38 ft. lbs. (52 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Lock the seatback in place. Insert the shoulder/lap belt buckles in the elastic straps.
  4.  
  5. Position the seat cushion in the vehicle. Insert the left pivot in the anchor grommet.
  6.  
  7. Force the tight side latch onto the anchor bolt and pivot the seat cushion to the horizontal position.
  8.  
  9. Lock the seat cushion in-place by pressing firmly on the center of the cushion until the latch engages.
  10.  

Bench Seat (Comanche)

See Figure 3

  1. If equipped, disengage the seat frame trim cover retainers and remove the trim covers.
  2.  
  3. Detach the shoulder belt buckles and lap belts from the seat.
  4.

  1. Remove the seat track platform retaining nuts from the studs and remove the seat.
  2.  
  3. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the retaining nuts to 18 ft. lbs. (24 Nm).
