Jeep Wagoneer/Commando/Cherokee 1984-1998

Jacking Procedure

Scissors jacks or hydraulic jacks are recommended for all Jeep vehicles. To change a tire, place the jack beneath the correct jacking location point as illustrated, near the wheel to be changed.

Make sure that you are on level ground, that the transmission is in Reverse with manual transmissions (or in Park with automatic transmissions), the parking brake is set, and the tire diagonally opposite to the one to be changed is blocked so that it will not roll. Using the wrench supplied with the vehicle, or a 19mm deep well socket and breaker bar, loosen the lug nuts before you jack the wheel to be changed completely free of the ground.
