CAUTION
Fuel system pressure must be relieved before disconnecting any fuel lines. Release fuel system pressure at the test connection using a suitable pressure gauge with a pressure bleed valve. Take precautions to avoid the risk of fire whenever working on or around any open fuel system.

  1. Relieve fuel system pressure.
  2.
  3. Remove the air duct at the throttle body.
  4.
  5. Disconnect the fuel lines at the ends of the fuel rail assembly.
  6.
  7. Tag and disengage the injector wire harness connectors.
  8.
  9. Remove the fuel rail assembly as outlined in this section.
  10.

On models with automatic transmission, it may be necessary to remove the automatic transmission throttle pressure cable and bracket to remove the fuel rail assembly.

  1. Remove the clips that retain the injectors to the fuel rail and remove the injectors.

Fig. Fig. 6: Checking resistance across the terminals of the fuel injector

  1. With the ignition key/switch in the OFF position, unplug the fuel injector connector.
  2.
  3. Using an ohmmeter, check the resistance between the 2 fuel injector terminals.
  4.
  5. If the resistance measures outside of 3-6 ohm range, replace the fuel injector.
