Cherokee, Wagoneer and Comanche

  1. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the sway bar links from the springs.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the sway bar from the frame rails.
  6.  
  7. Remove the sway bar.
  8.  

To install:
  1. Install the sway bar and tighten the bar link bolts to 55 ft. lbs. (74 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Connect the sway bar to the frame rail and tighten the bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6.  

Grand Cherokee/Grand Wagoneer

See Figure 3

  1. Raise and support the vehicle safely.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wheels.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the stabilizer bar links from the axle brackets.
  6.  
  7. Lower the exhaust by disconnecting the muffler and tail pipe hangers.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the stabilizer bar from the links.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the stabilizer bar clamps from the frame rails. Remove the stabilizer bar.

To install:
  1. Position the stabilizer bar on the frame rail and install the clamps and bolts.
  2.  
  3. Ensure the bar is centered with equal spacing on both sides. Tighten the bolts to 40 ft. lbs. (54 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the links and grommets onto the stabilizer bar and axle brackets. Install the nuts and tighten them to 27 ft. lbs. (36 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Connect the muffler and tail pipe to their hangers.
  8.  
  9. Install the wheel and lower the vehicle.
