After performing the preliminary visual checks, observe the behavior and timing of the dashboard warning lamps. Their function, when used in diagnostics, can point to possible causes and eliminate others.
Use the DRB scan tool with the correct cartridge to determine the specific circuit at fault. The tester with the correct adapter should be engaged to the diagnostic connector, located behind the dashboard to the right of the steering column. Any fault read by the tester on initial hook-up should be considered as a guide only. After initial repairs, clear the fault code, drive the vehicle and recheck for any stored code. Once the fault is identified, the DRB may be used to test or energize system components.
