The system power relay is located on the right strut tower and is initially energized when starting the engine. The relay remains energized for 3-5 seconds after the engine stops to enable the ECU to extend the Idle Speed Actuator (ISA) for the next start-up. The fuel pump control relay is also located on the front of the right strut tower. Battery voltage is applied to the fuel pump control relay through the ignition switch and is energized when a ground is provided by the ECU. In this manner, the ECU controls fuel pump operation.
