Wheel Sensor Rotors (Toothed Rings)

Removal & Installation



Front
2002-05 Models
  1. Remove the front wheel hub from the vehicle, as outlined in the Suspension and Steering Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the rotor with SST (0K670 990 AA0) or equivalent special tool. Never reinstall a rotor that has been removed.

To install:

  1. Position a new sensor on the wheel hub as shown. The sensor rotor has 54 teeth.
  2.  
  3. Press the rotor onto the wheel hub using SST (0K201 660 001) or equivalent special tool.

  5. Install the wheel hub on the vehicle, as outlined in the Suspension and Steering Section.
  6.  
  7. Check the air gap between the face of the wheel speed sensor and the top surface of the tone-wheel. It should be 0.0079-0.048 in. (0.2-1.2mm).
  8.  
  9. Test drive the vehicle to ensure proper brake and ABS system operation.
  10.  

Rear
2002-05 Models
  1. Remove the rear wheel hub from the vehicle, as outlined in the Suspension and Steering Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the sensor rotor with SST (0K670 990 AA0), or equivalent special tool.

To install:

  1. Position a new sensor on the wheel hub as shown. The sensor rotor has 54 teeth.
  2.  
  3. Install the sensor rotor to the hub with SST (0K201 660 001) or equivalent tool.

  5. Install the rear hub, as outlined in the Suspension and Steering Section.
  6.  
  7. Check the air gap between the face of the wheel speed sensor and the top surface of the tone-wheel. It should be 0.039-0.048 in. (1.1-1.2mm).
  8.  
  9. Test drive the vehicle to ensure proper brake and ABS system operation.
