Radiator & Engine Fan

Removal & Installation



3.5L Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the air duct.
  4.  
  5. Remove the hood locker.
  6.  
  7. Detach the horn connector.
  8.  
  9. Remove the shroud upper member.
  10.  
  11. Detach the radiator fan motor connector and the condenser fan motor connector.
  12.  
  13. Remove the radiator and condenser fans.
  14.  
  15. Matchmark the radiator hose and clamps, then disconnect the upper and lower hoses and the overflow hose.
  16.  
  17. Remove the radiator.

To install:

  1. Install the radiator
  2.  
  3. Connect the hoses and install the hose clamps, using the matchmarks made during removal.
  4.  
  5. Install the condenser and radiator fans.
  6.  
  7. Attach the condenser fan and radiator fan connectors.
  8.  
  9. Install the shroud upper member.
  10.  
  11. Attach the horn connector.
  12.  
  13. Install the hood locker.
  14.  
  15. Install the air duct.
  16.  
  17. Connect the negative battery cable.
  18.  

3.8L Engine
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  



Drain the engine coolant.
 
Remove the radiator grille upper cover (A).

  1. Remove the radiator support upper member assembly (A) for convenience sake.
    NOTE
    The bottom side bolt(A) which can be seen after removing the under cover should be loosened for removal of the radiator support upper member assembly.

  2.  
  3. Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the transaxle oil cooler hoses
  6.  



Detach the radiator fan electrical connectors.
 
Separate the condenser (A) from the radiator assembly(B) by removing the bolts(C).

Remove the radiator bracket.
 
Remove the radiator assembly.
 
Remove the radiator cooling fan from the radiator.

To install:

  1. Install the radiator fan to the radiator. Tighten the retainers to 3.6-5.8 ft. lbs. (4.9-7.8 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the radiator assembly into the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Install the radiator bracket.
  6.  
  7. Attach the condenser to the radiator assembly. Tighten the retainers to 3.6-5.8 ft. lbs. (4.9-7.8 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Attach the radiator fan connectors.
  10.  
  11. Connect the pressure lines to the radiator assembly.
  12.  
  13. Attach the transaxle oil lines.
  14.  
  15. Connect the upper and lower radiator hoses.
  16.  
  17. Install the radiator support upper member.
  18.  
  19. Install the radiator grille upper cover.
  20.  
  21. Fill the engine with coolant.
  22.  
  23. Connect the negative battery cable.
  24.  
  25. Start the engine and check for leaks, then recheck the coolant level, and add coolant as necessary.
