Removal & Installation



3.5L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Record the radio anti theft code data.
  4.  
  5. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Front wheels
     
    Starter motor
     
    Axle halfshafts
     
    Transaxle
     
    Flexplate
     
    Oil seal housing
     
    Oil seal
     

  6.  

To install:

  1. Install the oil seal to the seal housing using special tool 09231-33000 or similar seal driver.
  2.  
  3. Apply silicone sealant to the oil seal housing flange.
  4.  
  5. Install the seal housing and tighten the bolts to 94-106 inch lbs. (10-12 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install or connect the following:

    Flexplate. Tighten the bolts to 54-57 ft. lbs. (73-77 Nm)
     
    Transaxle
     
    Axle halfshafts
     
    Starter motor
     
    Front wheels
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  8.  
  9. Fill the crankcase to the correct level with engine oil.
  10.  
  11. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  12.  
  13. Reprogram the radio anti theft codes.
  14.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.

  3. Record the radio anti theft code data.
  4.  
  5. Remove the engine from the vehicle.
  6.  
  7. Remove the flex plate from the engine.
  8.  
  9. Remove the rear main oil seal from its mounting.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Install the oil seal to the oil seal housing using tool 09231-3C200 and tool 09231-H1100.
  2.  
  3. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
