Fuel Rail (Supply Manifold) & Injectors

Removal & Installation



3.5L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Record the radio anti theft code data.
  4.  
  5. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  6.  
  7. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Negative battery cable
     
    Engine cover
     
    Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hose
     
    Brake booster vacuum hose
     
    Surge tank stays
     
    Fuel lines
     
    Upper intake manifold (surge tank)
     
    Fuel injector harness connectors
     
    Fuel supply manifold with injectors attached
     

  8.  

To install:

  1. Replace all injector seals.
  2.  
  3. Install or connect the following:

    Fuel supply manifold with injectors attached
     
    Fuel injector harness connectors
     
    Upper intake manifold (surge tank)
     
    Fuel lines
     
    Surge tank stays
     
    Brake booster vacuum hose
     
    Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) hose
     
    Engine cover
     
    Negative battery cable
     

  4.  
  5. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  6.  
  7. Reprogram the radio anti theft codes.
  8.  

3.8L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Record the radio anti theft code data.
  4.  
  5. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Remove the necessary components to gain access to the fuel injectors. Label all electrical connections to aid in reassembly.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fuel injector. Remove the fuel injector from the engine.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Replace all injector seals.
  2.  
  3. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  4.  
  5. Start the engine and check for leaks.
  6.  
  7. Reprogram the radio anti theft codes.
  8.
