2002-05 Models



  1. Place the vehicle-s wheels in the straight ahead position.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Wait at least 3 minute for the air bag back-up power supply to deplete its stored energy before continuing.

  5. Remove the steering column lower cover

  6.  
  7. Loosen the four lower steering column cover screws and separate upper and lower steering column covers

  9. Loosen four bolts from steering wheel and remove steering wheel cover

  11. Detach the horn switch connector.
  12.  
  13. Make an alignment matchmark on the steering wheel and steering shaft for installation purposes.
  14.  
  15. Remove the nut from the end of the steering shaft.
  16.  
  17. Use a suitable puller to remove the steering wheel.

  19. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.

2006 Models



  1. Place the vehicle-s wheels in the straight ahead position.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Wait at least 3 minute for the air bag back-up power supply to deplete its stored energy before continuing.

  5. Unfasten the retainers on the back of the steering wheel, then carefully remove the driver-s side air bag module.
  6.  
  7. Detach the electrical connectors, then remove the steering wheel locknut.
    WARNING
    NEVER hammer on the steering wheel when removing it. This may damage the steering column.

  9. Matchmark the installed position of the steering wheel, then install a suitable steering wheel puller to remove the steering wheel.

  11. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure. Tighten the steering wheel mounting nut to 29-36 ft. lbs. (40-50 Nm).
