Trouble Code: P0137

HO2S-12 (Bank 1 Sensor 2) Circuit Low Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, engine running in closed loop at a speed over 3 mph, and the PCM detected the HO2S signal remained at less than 300 mv during the CCM test.

Possible Causes:



HO2S signal circuit open or shorted to ground
 
HO2S signal ground circuit is open
 
HO2S is contaminated or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0138

HO2S-12 (Bank 1 Sensor 2) Circuit High Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, engine running in closed loop at a speed over 3 mph, and the PCM detected the front HO2S signal remained fixed at more than 600 mv during the CCM test.

Possible Causes:



HO2S signal tracking (wet/oily) in connector causing a short
 
HO2S signal circuit shorted to VREF or system power (B+)
 
HO2S signal circuit is open, or the ground circuit is open
 
HO2S heater supply voltage is open or the HO2S has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0139

HO2S-12 (Bank 1 Sensor 2) Slow Response

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, engine running in closed loop at a speed over 3 mph, and the PCM detected the average ratio between the HO2S Actual and maximum allowed frequency during 100 Lambda cycles was more than the Threshold value (e.g., 0.66 Hz).

Possible Causes:



Exhaust leak present in the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipes
 
Front HO2S failed, or front & rear HO2S connections reversed
 
HO2S has deteriorated, is contaminated or has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0140

HO2S-12 (Bank 1 Sensor 2) No Activity Detected

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, engine running in closed loop at cruise speed at over 3 mph for more than 2 minutes, and the PCM detected the HO2S signal stroke rationality was more than the threshold value (0.250 volt) during the Oxygen Sensor Monitor test.

Possible Causes:



HO2S signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
HO2S has deteriorated, is contaminated or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0141

HO2S-12 (Bank 1 Sensor 2) Heater Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, engine running and PCM detected the HO2S heater current was more than 2 amps, or it was less than 0.25 amps.

Possible Causes:



HO2S power feed circuit from the Main Relay is open
 
HO2S heater control circuit is open
 
HO2S heater element has high resistance, is shorted or open
 
HO2S heater is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0170

Fuel System Too Rich or Too Lean (Bank 1)

Trouble Code Conditions: DTC P0171and P0172 not set, engine running in closed loop for over 2 minutes, and the PCM detected the amount of rich or lean Fuel Trim correction exceeded the Threshold maximum.

Possible Causes:



Air leaks present in the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipes
 
Air being drawn in from leaks in engine gaskets or other seals
 
Incorrect fuel pressure, or one or more fuel injectors has failed
 
Front HO2S element is contaminated or has failed
 
A "fuel control" sensor is out of calibration (BARO, ECT or IAT)
 

Trouble Code: P0171

Fuel System Too Lean (Bank 1)

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running in closed loop at a speed of over 5 mph for 2-3 minutes, and the PCM detected the Lambda correction value exceeded the "high" Threshold limit, condition met for 200 seconds.

Possible Causes:



Air leaks in intake manifold, exhaust pipes or exhaust manifold
 
One or more injectors restricted or pressure regulator has failed
 
Air is being drawn in from leaks in gaskets or other seals
 
O2S element is deteriorated or has failed
 
A "fuel control" sensor is out of calibration (ECT, IAT or MAP)
 

Trouble Code: P0172

Fuel System Too Rich (Bank 1)

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running in closed loop at a speed of over 5 mph for 2-3 minutes, and the PCM detected the Lambda correction value exceeded the "low" Threshold limit, condition met for 240 seconds.

Possible Causes:



One or more injectors leaking or pressure regulator is leaking
 
O2S element is deteriorated or has failed
 
EVAP vapor recovery system has failed (canister full of fuel)
 
Base engine fault (i.e., cam timing incorrect, engine oil too high
 
A "fuel control" sensor is out of calibration (ECT, IAT or MAP)
 

Trouble Code: P0201

Cylinder 1 Injector Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running and the PCM detected the identified fuel injector control circuit signal was more than the upper limit, or that it was less than the lower limit, or that no control signal was present.

Possible Causes:



Main relay power supply circuit to the injector is open
 
Fuel injector 1 control circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
Fuel injector 1 is damaged or has failed
 
Injector "driver" circuit in the PCM is damaged or has failed

Cylinder 2 Injector Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running and the PCM detected the identified fuel injector control circuit signal was more than the upper limit, or that it was less than the lower limit, or that no control signal was present.

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine runtime 3 seconds, engine speed change under 1200 rpm, and the PCM detected a random misfire condition in more than one cylinder during the 200 revolution or the 1000 revolution test range. Note: If the misfire is severe, the MIL will flash on/off on the 1st trip!

Possible Causes:



Vehicle driven under low fuel condition (less than 1/8 of a tank)
 
CKP or CMP sensor signal erratic or out of phase
 
Base engine problem affecting two or more engine cylinders
 
Ignition system problem affecting two or more engine cylinders

Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine runtime 3 seconds, engine speed change under 1200 rpm, and the PCM detected a misfire condition present in one cylinder during the 200 (Catalyst) or 1000 revolution (Emission) test range. Note: If the misfire is severe, the MIL will flash on/off on the 1st trip!

Knock sensor signal circuit shorted to VREF or system power

Trouble Code: P0326

Knock Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1)

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine speed from 1000-2200 rpm, ECT sensor signal more than 104°F, engine load more than 2 ms, and the PCM detected the Knock sensor signal was out of range at a calculated engine speed.

Possible Causes:



Knock sensor signal circuit open or shorted to ground
 
Knock sensor signal circuit shorted to VREF or system power

Trouble Code: P0327

Knock Sensor 1 Circuit Low Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine speed greater than 2600 rpm.

Trouble Code: P0328

Knock Sensor 1 Circuit High Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Coolant temperature more than 104 degrees F.

Trouble Code: P0335

Crankshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine cranking for 5 seconds, and the PCM did not detect any CKP sensor signals, or the vehicle was driven to a speed over 15.5 mph, and the PCM did not detect any CKP sensor signals for 5 seconds.

Possible Causes:



CKP sensor signal circuit open or shorted to ground
 
CKP sensor signal circuit shorted to VREF or system power
 
CKP sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0336

Crankshaft Position Sensor Performance

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running and the PCM detected the number of CKP sensor signals counted (between the reference mark gap) did not equal the Actual number of available teeth (i.e., the CKP signals were out or the normal window" of operation with the CMP sensor signals okay).

Possible Causes:



CKP sensor signal circuit connections loose (intermittent fault)
 
CKP sensor wiring harness has a connection fault (intermittent)
 
CKP to Target Wheel "air gap" is incorrect
 
CKP sensor is damaged or has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0337

Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Low Input

Trouble Code Conditions: If the output voltage of the CKPS remains low for more than two seconds. When the change of the CMPS output voltage is zero, the PCM determines a fault and stores a code. Change in output voltage (delta sign Vckp) is monitored.

Possible Causes:



Poor connection
 
Open or short to ground in CKPS circuit
 
Faulty CKPS
 
Faulty PCM
 

Trouble Code: P0338

Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit High Input

Trouble Code Conditions: If the output voltage of the CKPS remains high for more than two seconds. When the change of the CMPS output voltage is zero, the PCM determines a fault and stores a code. Change in output voltage (delta sign Vckp) is monitored.

Possible Causes:



Poor connection
 
Open or short to ground in CKPS circuit

Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit

Trouble Code Conditions: Signal check. Edge counter of camshaft position sensor 8.

Trouble Code: P0340

Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine speed over 600 rpm, and the PCM detected less than one CMP sensor signal was present, condition met for 1.5 seconds.

Possible Causes:



CMP sensor signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
CMP sensor signal circuit is shorted to VREF or system power
 
CMP sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0341

Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: No signal or no signal switching is detected. Crankshaft sensor is normal. Battery voltage is between 10 and 16 volts.

Open or short in CMPS circuit
 
Faulty CMPS
 
Faulty PCM

Camshaft Position Sensor Low Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine speed over 600 rpm, and the PCM detected an unexpected low voltage condition on the CMP sensor signal circuit.
