MAF Sensor Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, engine running, and the PCM detected the MAF sensor indicated less than 1 kg/h with the throttle angle more than 4.2 degrees, or that it indicated more than 520 kg/h at any time.

Possible Causes:



MAF sensor signal circuit open or shorted to ground
 
MAF sensor signal circuit shorted to system power (B+)
 
MAF sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0101

MAF or Volume Airflow Sensor Performance

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, engine running, and the PCM detected too much difference between the Actual MAF sensor signal and a Threshold MAF sensor value in memory during the CCM Rationality test.

Possible Causes:



MAF sensor signal circuit has high resistance
 
MAF sensor ground circuit has high resistance
 
MAF sensor is damaged or has failed (it may be contaminated)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0102

MAF Sensor Circuit Low Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running and the PCM detected the MAF sensor signal was less than 0.39 volt for more than 1 second.

Possible Causes:



MAF sensor signal circuit is shorted to ground
 
MAF sensor power circuit open between sensor and main relay
 
MAF sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0103

MAF Sensor Circuit High Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running and the PCM detected the MAF sensor signal was more than 3.90 volts, condition met for 1 second.

Possible Causes:



MAF sensor signal circuit shorted to VREF or system power
 
MAF sensor ground circuit is open between sensor and ground
 
MAF sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0110

Intake Air Temperature Sensor Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine runtime over 600 seconds and the PCM detected the IAT signal indicated more than 262(F, or that it indicated less than -38°F at any time during the CCM test.

Possible Causes:



IAT sensor signal circuit open or shorted to ground
 
IAT sensor signal circuit shorted to VREF or system power
 
IAT sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed

Intake Air Temperature Sensor Circuit Low Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running and the PCM detected the IAT sensor signal was less than 0.2 volt during the CCM test.

IAT sensor signal circuit shorted to ground
 
IAT sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0113

Intake Air Temperature Sensor Circuit High Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or the engine running and the PCM detected the IAT sensor signal was more than 4.9 volts during the CCM test.

IAT sensor signal circuit shorted to VREF or system power
 
IAT sensor ground circuit is open
 
IAT sensor is damaged or has failed

Trouble Code: P0115

Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Circuit Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine runtime over 600 seconds, and the PCM detected the IAT signal indicated more than 280°F, or that it indicated less than -38°F at any time during the CCM test.

Possible Causes:



ECT sensor signal circuit open or shorted to ground
 
ECT sensor signal circuit shorted to VREF or system power
 
ECT sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0116

Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Range/Performance

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running for 20 minutes, and the PCM detected an ECT signal remained at less than a specified value during the CCM test period.

Possible Causes:



Check for low coolant level or incorrect coolant mixture
 
Cooling system component failure (thermostat stuck open)
 
ECT sensor is out of calibration or it is "skewed"

Trouble Code Conditions: DTC P0116, P0117 and P0118 not set, engine runtime from 6-8 minutes, and the PCM detected the ECT signal did not reach the closed loop temperature of at least 68°F.

Check for low coolant level or incorrect coolant mixture
 
Cooling system component failure (thermostat stuck open)

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, engine running in closed loop at a speed over 3 mph for 2-3 minutes, and the PCM detected the average ratio between the HO2S Actual and maximum allowed frequency during 100 Lambda cycles was more than the Threshold value (e.g., 0.66 Hz).

Possible Causes:



Exhaust leak present in the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipes
 
Front HO2S failed, or front & rear HO2S connections reversed
 
HO2S has deteriorated, is contaminated or has failed

HO2S-11 (Bank 1 Sensor 1) No Activity Detected

Fuel System Too Rich or Too Lean (Bank 1)

Trouble Code Conditions: DTC P0171and P0172 not set, engine running in closed loop for over 2 minutes, and the PCM detected the amount of rich or lean Fuel Trim correction exceeded the Threshold maximum.

Possible Causes:



Air leaks present in the exhaust manifold or exhaust pipes
 
Air being drawn in from leaks in engine gaskets or other seals
 
Incorrect fuel pressure, or one or more fuel injectors has failed
 
Front HO2S element is contaminated or has failed
 
A "fuel control" sensor is out of calibration (BARO, ECT or IAT)

Fuel System Too Lean (Bank 1)

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running in closed loop at a speed of over 5 mph for 2-3 minutes, and the PCM detected the Lambda correction value exceeded the "high" Threshold limit, condition met for 200 seconds.

Possible Causes:



Air leaks in intake manifold, exhaust pipes or exhaust manifold
 
One or more injectors restricted or pressure regulator has failed
 
Air is being drawn in from leaks in gaskets or other seals
 
O2S element is deteriorated or has failed
 
A "fuel control" sensor is out of calibration (ECT, IAT or MAP)
 

Trouble Code: P0172

Fuel System Too Rich (Bank 1)

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running in closed loop at a speed of over 5 mph for 2-3 minutes, and the PCM detected the Lambda correction value exceeded the "low" Threshold limit, condition met for 240 seconds.

Possible Causes:



One or more injectors leaking or pressure regulator is leaking
 
O2S element is deteriorated or has failed
 
EVAP vapor recovery system has failed (canister full of fuel)
 
Base engine fault (i.e., cam timing incorrect, engine oil too high
 
A "fuel control" sensor is out of calibration (ECT, IAT or MAP)
 

Trouble Code: P0300

Random Cylinder Misfire Detected

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine runtime 3 seconds, engine speed change under 1200 rpm, and the PCM detected a random misfire condition in more than one cylinder during the 200 revolution or the 1000 revolution test range. Note: If the misfire is severe, the MIL will flash on/off on the 1st trip!

Possible Causes:



Vehicle driven under low fuel condition (less than 1/8 of a tank)
 
CKP or CMP sensor signal erratic or out of phase
 
Base engine problem affecting two or more engine cylinders

Crankshaft Position Sensor Performance

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running and the PCM detected the number of CKP sensor signals counted (between the reference mark gap) did not equal the Actual number of available teeth (i.e., the CKP signals were out or the normal window" of operation with the CMP sensor signals okay).

Possible Causes:



CKP sensor signal circuit connections loose (intermittent fault)
 
CKP sensor wiring harness has a connection fault (intermittent)
 
CKP to Target Wheel "air gap" is incorrect
 
CKP sensor is damaged or has failed
