Camshaft Position Sensor High Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine cranking and the PCM detected the CMP sensor signal was above a threshold value stored in memory during the CCM test.

Possible Causes:



CMP sensor signal circuit is shorted to VREF or system power
 
CMP sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0422

Catalyst Efficiency Below Normal (Bank 1)

Trouble Code Conditions: DTC P0100, P0102, P0103, P0136, P0139, P0140, P0171 and P0172 not set, engine running in closed loop at 720-2520 rpm, vehicle speed from 45-60 mph for 80 seconds, and the PCM detected the averaged Catalyst malfunction index was higher than the Threshold value for 3 seconds.

Air leaks at the exhaust manifold or in the exhaust pipes
 
Catalytic converter is damaged or has failed
 
Front HO2S or rear HO2S is contaminated with fuel or moisture

EVAP System Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine started, ECT sensor signal less than158ºF at startup, IAT sensor signal more than 9.5ºF, system voltage over 10.0 volts engine runtime 15-20 minutes at cruise speed, then returned to idle speed, VSS indicating 0 mph, load value 2.2 ms, canister load factor less than 4.0, fuel tank pressure less than 0.5" Hg, then after the Idle Control system and Fuel Trim had stabilized, the PCM detected a fuel vapor leak (as small as 0.040") in the EVAP system during the EVAP Leak Test.

Possible Causes:



Fuel filler cap damaged, cross-threaded or loosely installed
 
Small hoses or cuts present in the EVAP vapor hoses/lines
 
EVAP purge valve is damaged or has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0441

EVAP System Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: ECT sensor signal less than158°F at startup, IAT sensor signal more than 9.05°F, system voltage more than 10.9 volts engine runtime 15-20 minutes at cruise speed, then returned to idle speed, VSS indicating 0 mph, load value 2.2 ms, canister load factor less than 4.0, fuel tank pressure less than 0.5" Hg, then after the Idle Control system and Fuel Trim stabilized, the PCM detected a continuous purge condition in the EVAP system during the Purge flow test.

Possible Causes:



Small hoses or cuts present in the EVAP vapor hoses/lines
 
EVAP canister purge solenoid is damaged or is stuck open
 
PCM has failed

EVAP System Small Leak (0.040") Detected

Purge control solenoid control circuit is open or grounded
 
Purge control solenoid circuit is shorted to system power (B+)

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running and the PCM detected an unexpected voltage condition on the EVAP Vent Control solenoid circuit.

Injector Fuse (B+) open to the Vent solenoid power circuit
 
Vent control solenoid control circuit is open or grounded
 
Vent control solenoid circuit is shorted to system power (B+)

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running and the PCM detected the Fuel Tank Pressure sensor signal was more than 4.9 volts or less than 0.14 volt.

FTP sensor signal circuit open or shorted to ground
 
FTP sensor signal circuit shorted to VREF or system power
 
FTP sensor is damaged or has failed

Trouble Code: P0451

EVAP Pressure Sensor Performance

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine at idle speed with the vehicle speed indicating 0 mph, then with the EVAP Vent Control solenoid commanded "on", the PCM detected the FTP sensor signal variation was less than 15 mv.

Possible Causes:



FTP sensor signal or ground circuit has high resistance
 
FTP sensor is damaged or out of calibration
 
EVAP canister close valve (CCV) is stuck closed
 
PCM has failed

EVAP Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running and the PCM detected the Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) sensor signal was less than 0.14 volt during the test.

Possible Causes:



FTP sensor signal circuit is shorted to ground
 
FTP sensor is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed

EVAP Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running and the PCM detected the Fuel Tank Pressure (FTP) sensor signal was more than 4.90 volts during the test.

Possible Causes:



FTP sensor signal circuit is open
 
FTP sensor ground circuit is open
 
FTP sensor is damaged or has failed

Trouble Code: P0455

EVAP System Large Leak Detected

Trouble Code Conditions: ECT input at 38-95°F at startup, engine running at a steady throttle at over 6.2 mph for over 2 minutes, and the PCM detected the FTP sensor signal indicated more than -15 kPa in the EVAP Leak test.

Possible Causes:



Fuel filler cap damaged, cross-threaded or loosely installed
 
Small leaks or cuts present in the EVAP vapor hoses/lines

Vehicle Speed Sensor Performance

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running in gear at high speed and lover for over 1 second, and the PCM did not detect any VSS signals.

Possible Causes:



VSS signal circuit is open or shorted to ground
 
VSS signal circuit is shorted to VREF or to system power (B+)
 
VSS is damaged or has failed
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0505

Idle Speed System Malfunction

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running at idle speed while in closed loop, and the PCM detected the Actual idle speed more than 100-200 rpm above or below the Target idle speed during the test.

Possible Causes:



High resistance between the main relay and IAC valve
 
High resistance between PCM and IAC valve control circuits
 
IAC valve is damaged or has failed
 
The throttle plate is carbon fouled (it may need to be cleaned)
 

Trouble Code: P0506

Idle Speed Lower Than Expected

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running at idle speed while in closed loop, and the PCM detected the Actual idle speed was more than 100 rpm below the Target idle speed during the CCM test.

Possible Causes:



High resistance between the main relay and IAC valve
 
High resistance between PCM and IAC valve control circuits
 
IAC valve is damaged or has failed
 
The throttle plate is carbon fouled (it may need to be cleaned)
 

Trouble Code: P0507

Idle Speed Higher Than Expected

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine running at idle speed while in closed loop, and the PCM detected the Actual idle speed was more than 200 rpm above the Target idle speed during the CCM test.

Possible Causes:



High resistance between the main relay and IAC valve
 
High resistance between PCM and IAC valve control circuits
 
IAC valve is damaged or has failed
 
Intake air leak located below the throttle plate assembly
 

Trouble Code: P0561

System Voltage Unstable

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine runtime over 4 minutes, and the PCM detected the system voltage rapidly changed its value by more than 3 volts. Note: If the Battery Backup circuit is open, the vehicle will not run.

Possible Causes:



Charging system problem (charging voltage interrupted)
 
Backup voltage circuit to the PCM open (intermittent fault)
 
PCM has failed
 

Trouble Code: P0563

System Voltage High Input

Trouble Code Conditions: Engine runtime over 4 minutes, and the PCM detected the system voltage was more than 17.0 volts, condition met for 5 seconds. Note: If the Battery Backup circuit is open, the vehicle will not run.

Possible Causes:



Charging system problem (charging voltage too high)
 
Backup voltage circuit to the PCM open (intermittent fault)
 
PCM has failed

PCM or TCM Internal Random Check Sum Error

Trouble Code Conditions: Key on or engine running and the PCM or the TCM detected that a Random Check Sum Error was present.

Possible Causes:



Poor terminal contact at the ECM ISC Backup Voltage circuit
 
PCM or TCM has an internal problem or has failed
