Oil Pan

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions at the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Remove the starter motor.
  8.  
  9. Remove the oil pressure switch.
  10.  
  11. Remove the oil filter.
  12.  
  13. Remove the lower oil pan.
  14.  
  15. Remove the upper oil pan.
  16.

  1. Apply silicone sealant to the grove of the oil pan flange.
  2.  
  3. Install the upper oil pan and tighten the bolts in sequence as follows:
    1. Bolts 1-14: 7-9 ft. lbs. (10-12 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Bolts 15 and 16: 4-5 ft. lbs. (5-7 Nm).
    4.  
    5. Bolts 17 and 18: Upper oil pan-to-transaxle mounting bolts: 22-30 ft. lbs. (29-41 Nm).

  5. Apply sealant to the threads, then install the oil pressure switch and tighten to 6-9 ft. lbs. (8-12 Nm).

  7. Install the lower oil pan and tighten the bolts in sequence to 7-9 ft. lbs. (10-12 Nm).

  9. Install the oil filter.
  10.  
  11. Install the starter motor.
  12.  
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14.  
  15. Fill the crankcase to the correct level with engine oil.
  16.  
  17. Start the engine and check for leaks.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.

  3. Drain the engine oil.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  6.  
  7. Remove the starter motor.
  8.  
  9. Remove the oil pressure switch.
  10.  
  11. Remove the oil filter.
  12.  
  13. Remove the lower oil pan.
  14.  
  15. Remove the upper oil pan.
  16.  

To install:

  1. Apply silicone sealant to the grove of the oil pan flange.
    NOTE
    Make the first cut approximately 4mm from the end of the nozzle, furnished with the sealant. After sealant application do not exceed 15 minutes before installing the oil pan. Be sure sealant does not get inside the oil pan.

  3. Install the upper oil pan and tighten the bolts in sequence as follows:
    1. Bolts 1-14: 7-9 ft. lbs. (10-12 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Bolts 15 and 16: 4-5 ft. lbs. (5-7 Nm).

    5. Bolts 17 and 18: Upper oil pan-to-transaxle mounting bolts: 22-30 ft. lbs. (29-41 Nm).

  5. Apply sealant to the threads, then install the oil pressure switch and tighten to 6-9 ft. lbs. (8-12 Nm).

  9. Install the oil filter.
  10.  
  11. Install the starter motor.
  12.  
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14.  
  15. Fill the crankcase to the correct level with engine oil.
  16.  
  17. Start the engine and check for leaks.
