Inspection

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.
  3. Visually check the oil pump case for cracks and damage.
  4.
  5. Place the drive and driven rotors into the oil pump body.
  6.
  7. Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the drive and driven rotor tips.
  8.
  9. Standard tip clearance is 0.060 to 0.180 mm (0.0024 to 0.0071 in.).
  10.
  11. If the tip clearance is greater than maximum, replace the rotors as a set.
  12.
  13. Using a feeler gauge and precision straight edge, measure the clearance between the rotors and precision straight edge.
  14.
  15. Standard side clearance is 0.040 to 0.095 mm (0.0016 to 0.0037 in.).
  16.
  17. If the side clearance is greater than maximum, replace the rotors as a set. If necessary, replace the oil pump assembly.
  18.
  19. Using a feeler gauge, measure the clearance between the driven rotor and body.
  20.
  21. Standard body clearance is 0.100 to 0.181 mm (0.0039 to 0.0071 in.).
  22.
  23. If the body clearance is greater than maximum, replace the rotors as a set. If necessary, replace the oil pump assembly.
