Removal & Installation
2.0L & 2.7L Engines
- Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
- Remove the transaxle.
- Remove the flywheel or flexplate.
- Remove the rear main seal case.
Installation is the reverse of removal.
NOTECheck that the mating surfaces are clean and dry.
- Apply engine oil to a new oil seal lip.
Using a seal driver and a hammer, tap in the oil seal until its surface is flush with the rear oil seal retainer edge. Torque the seal case bolts to 7-9 ft. lbs. (10-12 Nm).
