  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the engine cover.
  6.  
  7. Remove right front wheel.
  8.  
  9. Remove 2 bolts and right side cover.
  10.  
  11. If the timing belt will be removed, turn the crankshaft pulley, and align its groove with timing mark "T" of the timing belt cover.
    NOTE
    Always turn the crankshaft clockwise

  13. Remove drive belt and belt tensioner.
  14.  
  15. Remove the engine mount bracket.
  16.  
  17. Set the jack to the engine oil pan. 
    WARNING
    Place a block of wood between the jack and the pan so not to damage the pan. To avoid damage to the oil pan, do not apply excessive force when supporting the engine.

  19. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and engine mount bracket.

  21. Remove the power steering pump.
  22.  
  23. Remove the 7 bolts and timing belt upper cover.
  24.  
  25. Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and crankshaft pulley.
  26.  
  27. Remove the drive belt idler pulley.
  28.  
  29. Remove the 4 bolts and timing belt lower cover.
  30.  

To install:

  1. Install the timing belt lower cover with 4 bolts. Tighten to 10-12 Nm (7-9 ft. lbs.) 
  2.  
  3. Install the drive belt idler pulley. Tighten to 35-55 Nm (25-40 ft. lbs.) 
  4.  
  5. Install the crankshaft pulley. Make sure that crankshaft sprocket pin fits the small hole in the pulley. Tighten to 180-190 Nm (130-138 ft. lbs.) 
  6.  
  7. Install the timing belt upper cover with 7 bolts.
  8.  
  9. Install the power steering pump.
  10.  
  11. Install the drive belt tensioner and drive belt.
  12.  
  13. Install the engine mount bracket.
  14.  
  15. Install engine mount bracket with 2 nuts and 2 bolts. Tighten to 60-80 Nm (44-59 ft. lbs.). 
  16.  
  17. Install right side cover with 2 bolts.
  18.  
  19. Install right front wheel.
  20.  
  21. Install engine cover.
  22.  
  23. Connect the negative battery cable.
  24.

  5. Remove the engine cover.
  6.  
  7. Remove the right front wheel.

  9. Remove the 2 bolts and right side cover.

  11. Set the jack to the engine oil pan.
    WARNING
    Place a block of wood between the jack and the pan so not to damage the pan. To avoid damage to the oil pan, do not apply excessive force when supporting the engine.

  13. Remove the bolt, nuts and engine mounting support bracket.

  15. Remove the bolt and engine support bracket stay plate.

  17. Temporarily loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
  18.  
  19. Remove the alternator drive belt.
  20.  
  21. Remove the air conditioner compressor drive belt.
  22.  
  23. Remove the power steering pump drive belt.
  24.  
  25. Remove the 4 bolts and water pump pulley.
  26.  
  27. Remove the 4 bolts and timing belt upper cover.

  29. If the timing belt will be removed, turn the crankshaft pulley, and align its groove with timing mark "T" of the timing belt cover. Check that the timing mark of camshaft sprocket is aligned with the timing mark of cylinder head cover. (No.1 cylinder compression TDC position)

  31. Remove the crankshaft pulley bolt and crankshaft pulley.
  32.  
  33. Remove the crankshaft flange.
  34.  
  35. Remove the 5 bolts and timing belt lower cover.
  36.  

To install:

  1. Install the timing belt lower cover with 5 bolts. Tighten to 8-10 Nm (6-7 ft. lbs.)
  2.  
  3. Install the flange and crankshaft pulley, and then tighten crankshaft pulley bolt. Make sure that the crankshaft sprocket pin fits into the small hole in the pulley. Tighten to 167-176 Nm (123-130 ft. lbs.)
  4.  
  5. Install the timing belt upper cover with bolts. Tighten to 8-10 Nm (6-7 ft. lbs.)
  6.  
  7. Install the water pump pulley and 4 bolts.
  8.  
  9. Install the power steering pump drive belt.
  10.  
  11. Install the air conditioner compressor drive belt.
  12.  
  13. Install the alternator drive belt.
  14.  
  15. Tighten the bolts of water pump pulley.
  16.  
  17. Install the engine mounting support bracket stay plate with bolt. Tighten to 42-54 Nm (31-40 ft. lbs.)
  18.  
  19. Install the engine mounting support bracket with nuts and bolt. Tightening torque:

    Nut (D): 59-78 Nm (43-589 ft. lbs.)
     
    Nut (C) and bolt (B): 49-64 Nm (36-47 ft. lbs.)
     

  20.  
  21. Install the right side cover with 2 bolts.
  22.  
  23. Install the right front wheel. Tighten to 88-98 Nm (65-72 ft. lbs.)
  24.  
  25. Install the engine cover with bolts. Tighten to 4-6 Nm (3-4 ft. lbs.)
  26.  
  27. Connect the negative battery cable.
  28.
