Diagnosis & Testing
Motor
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2.  
  3. Remove over head console for access.
  4.  
  5. Apply the battery voltage to terminals 3 and 6 while grounding terminal number 1.
  6.  
  7. Ground the terminals as shown in the table and verify sunroof operates as indicated in the table. If sunroof does not operate as specified, verify proper operation of the switch and mechanical system before replacing the motor assembly.

Switch
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2.  
  3. Remove the lens from the overhead console.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 2 screws holding the overhead console and lower the console.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the sunroof switch six pin electrical connector and the two pin connector of the map lamp.
  8.  
  9. Remove the overhead console lamp assembly from the headliner.
  10.  
  11. Check for continuity between the terminals in each switch position according to the table. If the continuity is not as specified, replace the sunroof switch.

Initialization Procedure

NOTE
Whenever the vehicle battery is disconnected or discharged, or you use the emergency handle to operate the sunroof, perform the initialization procedure.

  1. Turn the ignition key to the ON position.
  2.  
  3. According to the position of the sunroof, do as follows.

    In case that the sunroof has closed completely or been tilted : Press the TILT UP button until the sunroof has tilted upward completely.
     
    In case that the sunroof has slide-opened: Press and hold the CLOSE button for more than 5 seconds until the sunroof has closed completely. Press and hold the CLOSE button for more than 5 seconds after the sunroof has closed completely. Press the TILT UP button until the sunroof has tilted upward completely.

  5. Release the TILT UP button.
  6.  
  7. Press and hold the TILT UP button once again until the sunroof has returned to the original position of TILT UP after it is raised a little higher than the maximum TILT UP position.

  9. The initialization procedure is complete. Verify proper operation and correct as required.

Removal & Installation
Motor
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2.  
  3. Remove the lens from the overhead console.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 2 screws holding the overhead console and lower the console.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the sunroof switch and the map lamp electrical connectors and remove the overhead console assembly from the headliner.
  8.  
  9. Remove the three mounting screws and remove sunroof motor.
  10.  
  11. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  12.  
  13. Connect the negative battery cable and perform the switch initialization procedure.

Switch
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2.  
  3. Remove the lens from the overhead console.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 2 screws holding the overhead console and lower the console.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the sunroof switch and the map lamp electrical connectors and remove the overhead console assembly from the headliner.
  8.  
  9. Install in the reverse order of removal.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable and perform the switch initialization procedure.
