  5. Remove the front wheel and tire from front hub.
  6.
  7. Remove the brake hose bracket and speed sensor cable-mounting bolt from the strut assembly.
  8.
  9. Remove the speed sensor cable-mounting bolt and speed sensor.
  10.
  11. Remove the nut from the stabilizer bar link.
  12.
  13. Remove the strut upper mounting nuts.
  14.
  15. Remove the strut lower mounting bolts and then remove the strut assembly.
  16.

To install:

  1. Install the strut assembly and then install the strut lower mounting bolts. Tighten to 103-118 ft. lbs. (140-160 Nm).
  2.
  3. Install the strut upper mounting nuts. Tighten to 33-44 ft. lbs. (45-60 Nm).
  4.
  5. Install the nut on the stabilizer bar link. Tighten to 74-88 ft. lbs. (100-120 Nm).
  6.
  7. Install the speed sensor cable mounting bolt and speed sensor. Tighten to 5-8 ft. lbs. (7-11 Nm).
  8.
  9. Install the brake hose bracket and speed sensor cable mounting bolt on the strut assembly. Tighten to 5-8 ft. lbs. (7-11 Nm).
  10.
  11. Install the front wheel and tire on the front hub. Tighten to 66-81 ft. lbs. (90-110 Nm).

Overhaul (Coil Spring Removal & Installation)

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.
  3. Remove the dust cover with a flat-tipped screwdriver.
  4.
  5. Open the dust cover and wipe off grease in the insulator.
  6.
  7. Using a spring compressor, compress the coil spring until there is only a little tension of the spring on the strut.
  8.

  2.
  3. Compress coil spring using the special tool.
  4.
  5. Install compressed coil spring into shock absorber.
    NOTE
There are two identification color marks on the coil spring. One indicates the model option; the other indicates load classification. Distinguish between the two marks and then install them.

  6.
  7. Install the coil spring with the identification mark directed toward the knuckle.
  8.
  9. After fully extending the piston rod, install the spring upper seat and insulator assembly.
  10.
  11. After seating the upper and lower ends of the coil spring in the upper and lower spring seat grooves correctly, tighten new self-locking nut temporarily.
  12.
  13. Remove the compressor.
  14.
  15. Tighten the self-locking nut to 44-51 ft. lbs. (60-70 Nm).
  16.
  17. Apply grease to the strut upper bearing and install the insulator cap.
    NOTE
When applying the grease, be careful so that it isn't smeared on the insulator rubber.
