Removal & Installation



Switch
  1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
  2.  
  3. Remove the power window switch module from the door panel by pressing fixing clip part (B) with scraper (A).
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch.
  6.  
  7. Install in the reverse order of removal.

Motor

  1. Raise the door glass and hold it in position, using a suitable tool.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front door trim as follows:
    1. Carefully pry and remove the quadrant inner cover.
    2.  
    3. Remove the retaining screw and inside handle cover.
    4.  
    5. Remove the five door trim (A) mounting screws.
    6.  
    7. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the power window switch (B), power mirror (C), and door courtesy lamp (D).
    8.  
    9. Remove the door trim seal.
    10.  
    11. Carefully pry the door trim to release the retaining clips and remove trim panel from the door panel.
      NOTE
      When prying with a with a metal pry tool, wrap it with protective tape, and apply protective tape around the related parts, to prevent damage.

  7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the power window motor.
  8.  
  9. Remove the three nuts securing the motor to the door panel and remove the window motor.

To install:

  1. Install the window to the door panel with the three nuts and tighten to 3-4 ft. lbs. (4-6 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Connect the electrical connector to the power window motor.
  4.  
  5. Replace any damaged clips and install the door trim panel. Secure in place with the five door trim mounting screws.
  6.  
  7. Connect the electrical connectors for the power window switch (B), power mirror (C), and door courtesy lamp (D).
  8.  
  9. Install the inside handle cover and secure with the retaining screw.
  10.  
  11. Install the quadrant inner cover.
  12.  
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14.  
  15. Roll the glass up and down to see if it moves freely without binding.
  16.  

Rear Door

  1. Raise the door glass and hold it in position, using a suitable tool.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the rear door trim as follows:
    1. Remove the retaining screw and inside handle cover.
    2.  
    3. Remove the five door trim mounting screws at points shown.
    4.  
    5. Carefully pry the door trim to release the retaining clips and pull trim panel away from the door panel to access the window switch wiring.
      NOTE
      When prying with a with a metal pry tool, wrap it with protective tape, and apply protective tape around the related parts, to prevent damage.

    6.  
    7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the power window switch and remove the door panel from the door.

  7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the power window motor.
  8.  
  9. Remove the three nuts securing the motor to the door panel and remove the window motor.

To install:

  1. Install the window to the door panel with the three nuts and tighten to 3-4 ft. lbs. (4-6 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Connect the electrical connector to the power window motor.
  4.  
  5. Replace any damaged clips and install the door trim panel. Secure in place with the five door trim mounting screws.
  6.  
  7. Connect the electrical connector for the power window switch.
  8.  
  9. Install the inside handle cover and secure with the retaining screw.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12.  
  13. Roll the glass up and down to see if it moves freely without binding.
  14.  

Diagnosis & Testing

Motor

All window motors can be tested using the procedure outlined below.

  1. Remove the door trim panel.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the two pin electrical connector from the actuator.
  4.  
  5. Check motor operation by connecting power and ground according to the table.
    WARNING
    To prevent damage to the motor, do not continue to apply voltage once the motor has reached the full up or down position.

  6.  
  7. If operation is not as specified, replace the window motor.

Switch
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the window switch from the door panel.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch.
  6.  
  7. Check for continuity between the terminals in each switch position according to the table.
    1. If continuity is as specified, the switch is okay.
    2.  
    3. If continuity is not as specified, replace the window switch.
