Removal & Installation

  1. Run engine at idle speed with a/c on for approx. 10 minutes
  2.  
  3. Stop engine
  4.  
  5. Disconnect negative (-) terminal cable from battery
  6.  
  7. Discharge refrigerant from refrigeration system
  8.  
  9. Disconnect discharge and suction hoses
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and disconnect the both hoses.
      NOTE
      Cap the open fittings immediately to keep moisture or dirt out of the system.

  11. Remove drive belt
  12.  
  13. Remove engine under cover
  14.  
  15. Remove compressor
    1. Disconnect the connector.
    2.  
    3. Remove the bolt and disconnect the earth wire.
    4.  
    5. Remove the nut, the 3 bolts, compressor No.1 Stay and the compressor.

To install:

  1. Install compressor
    1. Install the compressor with the stay and 3 bolts. Tighten the bolts to 36 ft. lbs. (49 Nm), and the nuts to 22 ft. lbs. (29 Nm).

    3. Connect the earth wire harness with the bolts.
    4.  
    5. Connect the connector.

  3. Install engine under cover

  5. Connect discharge and suction hoses to compressor
    1. Connect the both hoses with the 2 nuts. Tighten the 84 inch lbs. (10 nm).
      NOTE
      Hose should be connected immediately after the caps have been removed.


      NOTE
      Lubricate 2 new O-rings with compressor oil and install the hoses.

  7. Install and check drive belt
  8.  
  9. Connect negative (-) terminal cable to battery
  10.  
  11. Evacuate air from refrigeration system and charge with refrigerant
    1. Specified amount: 24.69 ± 6.76 oz. (700 ± 50 g)

  13. Inspect for leakage of refrigerant
    1. Using a gas leak detector, check for leakage of refrigerant. If there is leakage, check the tightening torque at the joints.

  15. Inspect A/C operation
