Disarming the System

Zone 1



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicles wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  4.  
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  6.  
  7. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  8.  
  9. Open the hood and locate the underhood fuse center on right/passenger shock tower.
    NOTE
    With the SIR Fuse removed and the ignition ON, the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  10.  
  11. Lift the cover for the underhood fuse center.
  12.  
  13. Locate and remove the SIR Fuse from the underhood fuse center.
  14.  
  15. Remove the radiator upper air baffle and deflector and locate the left and/or right front end sensor also known as Electronic Frontal Sensor (EFS) that needs servicing.
  16.  
  17. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA)  from both front end sensors connector.
  18.  
  19. Remove both front end sensor connectors from each front end sensor.

Zone 2



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicles wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  4.  
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  6.  
  7. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  8.  
  9. Open the hood and locate the underhood fuse center on right/passenger shock tower.
    NOTE
    With the SIR Fuse removed and the ignition ON, the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  10.  
  11. Lift the cover for the underhood fuse center.
  12.  
  13. Locate and remove the SIR Fuse from the underhood fuse center.

  15. When disabling the roof rail module go to step 8, if the Side impact Sensor (SIS) needs disabling then go to step 11.
  16.  
  17. Remove the left rear panel.
  18.  
  19. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the left/driver roof rail module connector (2).
  20.  
  21. Disconnect the left roof rail module wiring harness yellow connector (2) from the left roof rail module (3).
  22.  
  23. Remove the left/driver door trim panel.

  25. Remove enough of the water deflector to access the SIS.
  26.  
  27. Remove the SIS CPA from the left SIS connector (3).
  28.  
  29. Remove the SIS connector (3) from the SIS (1).

Zone 3



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicles wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  4.  
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  6.  
  7. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  8.  
  9. Open the hood and locate the underhood fuse center on right/passenger shock tower.
    NOTE
    With the SIR Fuse removed and the ignition ON, the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  11. Lift the cover for the underhood fuse center.
  12.  
  13. Locate and remove the SIR fuse from the underhood fuse center.
  14.  
  15. Remove the left/driver sound insulator from the Instrument Panel (I/P) (2).
  16.  
  17. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the steering wheel module coil yellow connector (1).
  18.  
  19. Disconnect the steering wheel module coil yellow connector (1) from the vehicle harness yellow connector (3).

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  4.  
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  6.  
  7. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  8.  
  9. Open the hood and locate the underhood fuse center on right/passenger shock tower.
    NOTE
    With the SIR Fuse removed and the ignition ON, the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  11. Lift the cover for the underhood fuse center.
  12.  
  13. Locate and remove the SIR Fuse from the underhood fuse center.
  14.  
  15. Remove the right/passenger sound insulator from the Instrument Panel (I/P) (3).
  16.  
  17. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the I/P module yellow connector (1).
  18.  
  19. Disconnect the I/P module yellow connector (1) from the vehicle harness yellow connector (2).

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicles wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  4.  
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  6.  
  7. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  8.  
  9. Open the hood and locate the underhood fuse center on right/passenger shock tower.
    NOTE

  11. Lift the cover for the underhood fuse center.

  13. Locate and remove the SIR Fuse from the underhood fuse center.
  14.  
  15. When disabling the roof rail module go to step 8, if the Side impact Sensor (SIS) needs disabling then go to step 11.
  16.  
  17. Remove the right rear panel.
  18.  
  19. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the right/passenger roof rail module connector.
  20.  
  21. Disconnect the right roof rail module wiring harness yellow connector from the right roof rail module.
  22.  
  23. Remove the right/passenger door trim panel.
  24.  
  25. Remove enough of the water deflector to access the SIS.
  26.  
  27. Remove the SIS CPA from the right SIS connector.
  28.  
  29. Remove the SIS connector from the SIS.
  30.  

Zone 7



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicles wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  4.  
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  6.  
  7. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  8.  
  9. Open the hood and locate the underhood fuse center on right/passenger shock tower.
    NOTE
    With the SIR Fuse removed and the ignition ON, the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  11. Lift the cover for the underhood fuse center.
  12.  
  13. Locate and remove the SIR Fuse from the underhood fuse center.
  14.  
  15. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the left/driver seat belt pretensioner connector (1) located under the driver seat.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect the left seat belt pretensioner connector from vehicle wiring harness connector (1).
  18.  

Zone 9



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle wheels are pointing straight ahead.
  4.  
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  6.  
  7. Remove the key from the ignition switch.
  8.  
  9. Open the hood and locate the underhood fuse center on right/passenger shock tower.
    NOTE
    With the SIR Fuse removed and the ignition ON, the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.

  11. Lift the cover for the underhood fuse center.
  12.  
  13. Locate and remove the SIR Fuse from the underhood fuse center.
  14.  
  15. When disabling the right/passenger seat belt pretensioner perform step 8, if the Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) needs disabling then use entire procedure.
  16.  
  17. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the right/passenger seat belt pretensioner connector located under the passenger seat.
  18.  
  19. Disconnect the seat belt pretensioner-right connector from vehicle wiring harness connector.
  20.  
  21. Remove the right rear panel.
  22.  
  23. Remove the CPA from the right/passenger roof rail module connector.
  24.  
  25. Disconnect the right roof rail module wiring harness yellow connector from the right roof rail module.
  26.  
  27. Remove the right/passenger sound insulator from the Instrument Panel (I/P).
  28.  
  29. Remove the CPA from the I/P module yellow connector.
  30.  
  31. Disconnect the I/P module yellow connector from the vehicle harness yellow connector.
  32.  
  33. Remove the left/driver sound insulator from the I/P.
  34.  
  35. Remove the CPA from the steering wheel module coil yellow connector.
  36.  
  37. Disconnect the steering wheel module coil yellow connector from the vehicle harness yellow connector.
  38.  
  39. Remove the CPA from the left/driver seat belt pretensioner connector located under the driver seat.
  40.  
  41. Disconnect the seat belt pretensioner-left connector from vehicle wiring harness connector.
  42.  
  43. Remove the left rear panel.
  44.  
  45. Remove the CPA from the left/driver roof rail module connector.
  46.  
  47. Disconnect the left roof rail module wiring harness yellow connector from the left roof rail module.
