Driver's Window Switch
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Ensure the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the harness connector at the driver window switch.
  6.  
  7. Replace the driver window switch for the following conditions:

    If less than infinite resistance between the signal terminals E and F and the B+ circuit terminal B with the LR Switch in the INACTIVE position
     
    If greater than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal E and the B+ circuit terminal B with the switch in the UP position
     
    If greater than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal F and the B+ circuit terminal B with the switch in the DOWN position
     
    If less than infinite resistance between the signal terminals G and H and the B+ circuit terminal B with the RR Switch in the INACTIVE position
     

  8.  
  9. If greater than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal G and the B+ circuit terminal B with the switch in the UP position

    If greater than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal H and the B+ circuit terminal C with the driver window switch in the DOWN position
     
    If less than infinite resistance between the signal terminals B and A and the B+ circuit terminal B with the passenger switch in the INACTIVE position
     
    If greater than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal B and the B+ circuit terminal B with the switch in the UP position
     
    If greater than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal A and the B+ circuit terminal B with the switch in the DOWN position
     
    If less than infinite resistance between the signal terminals C and D and the B+ circuit terminal B with the driver switch in the INACTIVE position
     
    If greater than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal C and the B+ circuit terminal B with the switch in the UP position
     
    If greater than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal D and the B+ circuit terminal B with the switch in the DOWN position

Passenger's Window Switch
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Ensure the ignition switch is in the OFF position.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the harness connector at the passenger window switch.
  6.  
  7. Replace the passenger window switch for the following conditions:

    If less than infinite resistance between the signal terminals G and F and the B+ circuit terminal A with the switch in the INACTIVE position
     
    If greater than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal F and the B+ circuit terminal A with the switch in the UP position
     
    If greater than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal G and the B+ circuit terminal A with the switch in the DOWN position

Window Motor
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Install a 30-amp fused jumper wire between the control terminal A and 12 volts.
  4.  
  5. Momentarily install a jumper wire between the control terminal B and a ground. The appropriate window motor should perform the UP or DOWN function.
  6.  
  7. Reverse the jumper wires. The appropriate window motor should perform the DOWN or UP function.
  8.  
  9. If the function does not perform as specified, replace the appropriate window motor.
  10.  

Removal & Installation
Window Motor & Regulator
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
    CAUTION
    Disconnect the power window switch when working inside the driver door. When operated, the Express Up/Down Feature allows the door window to move very quickly, without stopping, which could cause personal injury.

  3. Remove the cover in the armrest pull cup.
  4.  
  5. Remove the armrest pull cup screws.
  6.  
  7. Remove the screw cover from the inside door handle. Remove the screw.
  8.  
  9. Slide the J 38778, door trim pad clip remover, behind the door trim extension panel. Press out to free the retainer.
  10.  
  11. Starting at the door bottom, use the J 38778 to disengage the retainers from the door trim panel.
  12.  
  13. Lift the trim panel up to release the top edge and move it away from the door to expose the inside door handle lock rod.
  14.  
  15. Using a needle nose pliers, compress the plastic connector on the cable end to release the cable from the door panel.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect the door handle cable end from the door handle.
  18.  
  19. Disconnect the electrical connector to the door electric harness. Pinch the release tabs and lift the cam lock and separate the connector.
  20.  
  21. Remove the front door trim panel from the vehicle.
    NOTE
    Use care when removing the water deflector from the inner door panel not to damage the waterproof seal.

  22.  
  23. Remove the water deflector.
    WARNING
    To avoid paint damage, protect the area surrounding the part which you are removing or installing.

  24.  
  25. Apply masking tape to the outer reveal.

  27. Raise the window far enough in order to gain access through the inner door panel to the window guide retainer clip.
  28.  
  29. Push inward on the window guide retainer clip locks and lift upward on the window until it is released from the retaining clip.
  30.  
  31. Raise the window to the full up position and tape in place.
  32.  
  33. Disconnect the electrical connector from the power window motor by pulling up on the tab to release it.

  35. Remove the bolt from the window regulator motor (3).
  36.  
  37. Remove the nuts (2, 4) from the window regulator studs.
  38.  
  39. Remove the window regulator and motor through the access opening in the inner door panel.
  40.  
  41. Remove the power window motor bolts from the window regulator.
  42.  

To install:

  1. Install the window regulator and motor through the access opening in the inner panel.
    NOTE
    Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  2.  
  3. Install the power window motor bolts to the window regulator. Tighten the bolts to 53 inch lbs. (6 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the nuts to the window regulator studs.
  6.  
  7. Install the window regulator motor bolt.
  8.  
  9. Tighten the window regulator bolt and nuts to the door. Tighten the bolt and nuts to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Connect the electrical connector to the power window motor and push in on the tab to lock in place.
  12.  
  13. Remove the masking tape while holding the window in place.
  14.  
  15. Lower the window far enough in order to gain access through the inner panel to the window guide retainer to snap the window into the retainer.
    NOTE
    If the door water deflector was torn when removing, use 3M- 58722 waterproof tape or equivalent to these areas.

  16.  
  17. Align the door water deflector to the inner door panel.
  18.  
  19. Install the water deflector using a small roller to outline the water deflector in order to ensure proper seating.
  20.  
  21. Connect the electrical connector to the door electric harness. Press the cam lock in to secure the connector.
  22.  
  23. Connect the door handle cable to the door handle.
  24.  
  25. Position the top of the trim panel at the window opening and press down.
  26.  
  27. Align the fasteners into the holes in the door metal.
  28.  
  29. Firmly press the door panel to seat the fasteners.
  30.  
  31. Install the armrest pull cup screws. Tighten the screws to 27 inch lbs. (3 Nm).
  32.  
  33. Install the inside door handle screw. Tighten the screw to 27 inch lbs. (3 Nm).
  34.  
  35. Install the screw cover.
  36.  
  37. Inspect the window for proper operation.
  38.  

Window Switch
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.

  23. Use a flat-bladed tool to remove the power window electrical connectors.

  25. Use a flat-bladed tool to remove the power window switch from the trim mounting plate.
  26.  
  27. Remove the switch from the vehicle.
  28.  

To install:

  1. Install the switch into the trim mounting plate.
  2.  
  3. Connect the electrical connectors to the window switch.
  4.  
  5. Connect the electrical connector to the door electric harness. Press the cam lock in to secure the connector.
  6.  
  7. Connect the door handle cable to the door handle.
  8.  
  9. Position the top of the trim panel at the window opening and press down.
  10.  
  11. Align the fasteners into the holes in the door metal.
  12.  
  13. Firmly press the door panel to seat the fasteners.
  14.  
  15. Install the armrest pull cup screws. Tighten the screws to 27 inch lbs. (3 Nm).
  16.  
  17. Install the inside door handle screw. Tighten the screw to 27 inch lbs. (3 Nm).
  18.  
  19. Install the screw cover.
  20.  
  21. Inspect the power window for proper operation.
