Wheel Bearings

Adjustment



All models use sealed wheel bearings that are pre-adjusted. If the bearing needs replacing, replace the rear wheel hub/bearing assembly.

Removal & Installation




NOTE
The wheel bearing in the rear wheel hub is integrated into one unit. The hub is non-serviceable. If the hub/bearing is damaged, replace the complete hub and bearing assembly.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the tires and wheels.
  6.  
  7. Remove the brake rotor.
  8.  
  9. Remove the ABS electrical connector from the wheel speed sensor, if equipped.
  10.  
  11. Remove the mounting bolts from the rear bearing/hub.
  12.  
  13. Remove the wheel bearing/hub and the backing plate.

To install:

  1. Install the backing plate and the wheel bearing hub.
  2.  
  3. Install the wheel bearing/hub to knuckle bolts. Tighten the bolts to 55 ft. lbs. (75 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the ABS electrical connector to the wheel speed sensor, if equipped.
  6.  
  7. Install the brake rotor and caliper.
  8.  
  9. Install the tires and wheels.
  10.  
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12.
