  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the drive belt.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 3 pulley bolts.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the return hose.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the high pressure hose.
  10.  
  11. Remove the 4 bolts securing the pump/compressor bracket to the engine.
  12.  
  13. Remove the 3 bolts securing the mounting plate to the pump.
  14.  
  15. Remove the pump.
  16.  
  17. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten as follows:

    Lift bracket to the pump: 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
     
    Bracket to the engine: 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
     
    Pump mounting bolts: 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
     
    High pressure fitting: 12 ft. lbs. (16 Nm).

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect battery ground lead.
  4.  
  5. Remove engine mounting top arm.
  6.  
  7. Loosen power-assisted steering (PASP pump pulley bolts.
  8.  
  9. Using a 3 / 8 in. socket bar, raise auxiliary drive belt tensioner and release drive belt from alternator and PAS pump pulleys.
  10.  
  11. Position container to collect PAS fluid spillage.
  12.  
  13. Release clip and disconnect fluid inlet hose from PAS pump.
  14.  
  15. Remove banjo bolt securing fluid outlet hose to PAS pump, release hose, remove and discard sealing washers.
    CAUTION
    To prevent damage to components, use two wrenches when loosening or tightening unions.

  17. Remove bolt securing PAS outlet pipe support bracket to cylinder head and move pipe aside.
  18.  
  19. Remove 3 bolts securing PAS pump pulley to PAS pump and remove pulley.
    CAUTION
    Always fit plugs to open connections to prevent contamination.

  21. Remove 3 bolts securing PAS pump to mounting bracket.
  22.  
  23. Remove PAS pump.
  24.  

To install:

  1. Position PAS pump and align to mounting bracket.
  2.  
  3. Fit bolts securing PAS pump to mounting bracket and tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Fit PAS pump pulley to PAS pump and tighten bolts to finger tight.
  6.  
  7. Remove plug from fluid outlet hose.
  8.  
  9. Clean banjo bolt and mating faces.
  10.  
  11. Using new sealing washers, fit PAS outlet hose to pump and tighten banjo bolt to 15 ft. lbs. (20 Nm).
    CAUTION
    To prevent damage to components, use two wrenches when loosening or tightening unions.

  13. Align outlet pipe clip. Fit bolt and tighten to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
  14.  
  15. Clean elbow on PAS pump.
  16.  
  17. Remove plug from fluid inlet hose, fit new clip and connect hose to PAS pump.
  18.  
  19. Remove container.
  20.  
  21. Clean pulley 'V's and tensioner pulley running surface.
  22.  
  23. Using a 3 / 8 in. square drive socket bar, raise auxiliary drive belt tensioner and fit drive belt to pulleys.
  24.  
  25. Tighten PAS pump pulley bolts to 7.5 ft. lbs. ( Nm).
  26.  
  27. Fit engine mounting top arm.
  28.  
  29. Connect the negative battery cable.
  30.  
  31. Bleed PAS system.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.

  3. Remove the drive belt.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 3 pulley bolts.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the return hose.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the high pressure hose.
  10.  
  11. Remove the 4 bolts securing the pump/compressor bracket to the engine.
  12.  
  13. Remove the 3 bolts securing the mounting plate to the pump.
  14.  
  15. Remove the pump.
  16.  
  17. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten as follows:

    Lift bracket to the pump: 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
     
    Bracket to the engine: 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
     
    Pump mounting bolts: 13 ft. lbs. (18 Nm).
     
    High pressure fitting: 12 ft. lbs. (16 Nm).

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Remove auxiliary belt.
  4.  
  5. Remove cable tie securing harness to air intake hose.
  6.  
  7. Loosen 3 clips and remove air intake hose.
  8.  
  9. On models with ACE, remove Active Cornering Enhancement (ACE) pump from its mounting and position aside.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect A/C compressor connector, remove mounting bolts and position compressor aside.
  12.  
  13. Remove power assist steering (PAS) pump pulley.
  14.  
  15. Position container to catch fluid, and release PAS pump pressure pipe.
    CAUTION
    Always fit plugs to open connections to prevent contamination.

  17. Remove the jockey pulley.
  18.  
  19. Remove oil cooling pipe bracket from auxiliary housing.
  20.  
  21. Remove PAS pump.
  22.  
  23. Remove 4 bolts and 1 nut securing auxiliary housing. Pull housing forward and remove PAS pump.
  24.  

To install:

  1. Position PAS pump to auxiliary housing and reposition auxiliary housing to engine. Install and tighten auxiliary housing bolts to 30 ft. lbs. (40 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Tighten auxiliary housing nut to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Reconnect oil cooling pipe bracket to auxiliary housing.
  6.  
  7. Install PAS pump mounting bolts and tighten to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Reconnect PAS pump pressure pipe.
  10.  
  11. Install PAS pump inlet hose and secure with clip.
  12.  
  13. Position jockey pulley and tighten pulley bolt to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
  14.  
  15. Clean PAS pump pulley mating faces. Install pulley and tighten bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
  16.  
  17. On models with ACE, clean ACE pump dowels and dowel holes. Position pump, install bolts, and tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  18.  
  19. Clean A/C compressor dowels and dowel holes. Install compressor and tighten bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 Nm).
  20.  
  21. Install air intake hose and secure with clips. Attach harness to air intake hose with new cable tie.
  22.  
  23. Install auxiliary drive belt.
  24.  
  25. Bleed PAS system.
  26.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front air dam.
  6.  
  7. Remove the front splash shield.
  8.  
  9. Remove the ancillary drive belt.
  10.  
  11. Position container to catch fluid, and release PAS pump pressure pipe.
    CAUTION
    Always fit plugs to open connections to prevent contamination.

  12.  
  13. Remove 2 bolts and 1 nut and remove power steering pump.
  14.  

To install:

  1. Position pump and tighten the Allen bolts to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm), and the nut to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Reconnect pump feed hose.
  4.  
  5. Using new o-ring, connect pressure hose and tighten fitting to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the ancillary drive belt.
  8.  
  9. Install the front splash shield
  10.  
  11. Install the air dam.
  12.  
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
  14.  
  15. Fill system with clean power steering fluid and then bleed the system by starting the engine and turning the steering wheel lock to lock several times. Recheck the fluid level.
