Windshield Wiper System

Wiper Motor



Removal & Installation
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wiper arm and blade assemblies.
  4.  
  5. Remove the air intake molding.
  6.  
  7. Detach the connector from windshield wiper motor.
  8.  
  9. Remove 3 bolts securing wiper motor and linkage to body and remove wiper motor and linkage.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Position the motor and linkage to body, install the bolts and tighten to 3.5 ft. lbs. (5 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Attach the connector to the windshield wiper motor.
  4.  
  5. Install the air intake molding.
  6.  
  7. Install the wiper arm and blade assemblies.
  8.  
  9. Connect the negative battery cable.
  10.  

  1. Remove the wiper arms.
  2.  
  3. Remove the plenum air intake.
  4.  
  5. Unfasten the 4 nuts and one bolt securing motor mounting plate to body.
  6.  
  7. Remove the nut and bolt securing the linkage to body.
  8.  
  9. Release the motor and linkage from the body and detach the connector from the wiper motor.
  10.  
  11. Remove the motor and linkage.
  12.  
  13. Unfasten the nut securing the linkage connecting rod to the wiper motor spindle.
  14.  
  15. Release the link from the motor spindle.
  16.  
  17. Remove the 3 bolts holding the motor to the mounting plate and remove the motor.

To install:

  1. Position the wiper motor to the mounting plate and secure with bolts.
  2.  
  3. Connect the link to the motor spindle and tighten the nut to 5.2 ft. lbs. (7 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Fit the motor and linkage to body, and attach the connector. Tighten all retainers to 1.8 ft. lbs. (2.5 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the plenum air intake.
  8.  

  1. Remove the wiper arms.
  2.  
  3. Remove air intake plenum.
  4.  
  5. Remove the covers from wiper spindles.
  6.  
  7. Remove nuts and flat washers securing wiper spindle housings.

  9. Disconnect the windshield heater multiplug.
  10.  
  11. Release multiplug clip from scuttle side panel on driver-s side of vehicle.
  12.  
  13. Remove 6 bolts securing scuttle side panel, then remove the panel.

  15. Detach the multiplug from wiper motor
  16.  
  17. Unfasten the 2 bolts securing wiper motor to scuttle. Remove wiper motor/linkage assembly

To install:

  1. Position wiper motor/linkage assembly. Fit bolts loosely securing motor to scuttle panel.
  2.  
  3. Position scuttle side panel. Secure with bolts.
  4.  
  5. Connect the windshield heater multiplug. Secure multiplug clip to the scuttle panel.
  6.  
  7. Secure wiper spindle housings to scuttle with nuts and flat washers and tighten to 8 ft. lbs. (11 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Tighten the motor securing bolts to 5 ft. lbs. (7 Nm)
  10.  
  11. Connect the multiplug to wiper motor.
  12.  
  13. Install the covers over wiper spindles.
  14.  
  15. Install the air intake plenum.
  16.  
  17. Install the wiper arms.
  18.  

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Remove the wiper arm and blade assemblies.
  4.  
  5. Remove the windshield lower finisher.
  6.  
  7. Remove air intake plenum.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the multiplug from wiper motor.
  10.  
  11. Remove the 5 Torx® bolts securing wiper linkage and remove assembly.

To install:

  1. Position the wiper motor assembly, install the bolts and tighten to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Connect multiplug to wiper motor.
  4.  
  5. Install the air intake plenum.
  6.  
  7. Install the windscreen finisher.
  8.  
  9. Install the wiper arm and blade assemblies.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12.
