Crankshaft Damper (Balancer)

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Wait at least 90 seconds before performing any other work.
  4.  
  5. It may be necessary to remove the radiator assembly for access.
  6.  
  7. Remove the accessory drive belt(s).
  8.  
  9. Using SST 09213-54015 (91651-60855), 09330-00021, loosen the crankshaft pulley bolt.
  10.  
  11. Using SST 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05010, 09954-05030)and the pulley bolt, remove the crankshaft pulley.
    NOTE
    Before using SST, apply lubricating oil on the threads and tip of the center bolt.

To install:

  1. Align the pulley set key with the key groove of the pulley, and slide on the pulley.
  2.  
  3. Using SST 09213-54015 (91651-60855), 09330-00021, install the pulley bolt.
  4.  
  5. Tighten the crankshaft pulley bolt (depending on the engine) to the following torque values:

    2.5L (4GR-FSE) and 3.5L (2GR-FSE) engines: 184 ft. lbs. (250 Nm)
     
    3.0L (1MZ-FE) engine: 159 ft. lbs. (215 Nm)
     
    3.0L (2JZ-GE) engine: 243 ft. lbs. (330 Nm)
     
    3.3L (3MZ-FE) engine: 162 ft. lbs. (220 Nm)
     
    4.0L (1UZ-FE) and 4.3L (3UZ-FE) engines: 181 ft. lbs. (245 Nm)
     

  6.  
  7. Install the accessory drive belt(s).
  8.  
  9. Install the radiator, if necessary.
  10.  
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
  12.
