Removal & Installation



Mounted In The Hub And Bearing Assembly
  1. Remove the wheel.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the connector from the speed sensor.
  4.  
  5. Remove the hub and bearing assembly.
  6.  
  7. Using a pin punch and hammer, drive out the 2 pins and remove the 2 attachments from SST 09520-00031.
  8.  
  9. Mount the front axle hub in a soft jaw vise.
  10.  
  11. Using SST 09520-00031 (09520-00040, 09521-00020), 09950-00020and 2 bolts (Diameter: 12mm, Pitch: 1.5mm), remove the speed sensor.
  12.  

To install:

  1. Clean the contacting surface of the axle hub and a new speed sensor.

  3. Place the speed sensor on the axle hub so that the connector will be positioned as shown in the illustration under the on-vehicle condition.
  4.  
  5. Using SST 09214-7601 1 and a press, install a new speed sensor to the axle hub.
    CAUTION
    Do not tap the speed sensor with a hammer directly. Check that there should be no foreign objects on the speed sensor detection portion.

  7. Install the speed sensor to the front axle.
  8.  
  9. Connect the speed sensor connector.
  10.  
  11. Install fender liner.
  12.  
  13. Install front wheel.
  14.  
  15. Check for speed sensor signal.
  16.  

Mounted Separately
  1. Remove the wheel.
  2.  
  3. Remove fender liner, if necessary.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the connector from the speed sensor.
  6.  
  7. Remove the clamp bolts holding the sensor harness and clamp from the body and shock absorber.
  8.  
  9. Remove the bolt and speed sensor. Do not stick and foreign matter on the sensor tip.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Install the speed sensor with the bolt and tighten to 71 inch lbs. (8 Nm). Make sure the sensor tip is clean.
  2.  
  3. Install the sensor harness clamps
  4.  
  5. Connect the speed sensor connector and clamp.
  6.  
  7. Install fender liner.
  8.  
  9. Install front wheel.
  10.  
  11. Check for ABS signal.
  12.
