Mass Air Flow Meter

Testing



  1. Apply battery voltage across terminals 3 (+B) and 4 (E2G).
  2.  
  3. Connect the positive (+) tester probe to terminal 5 (VG), and the negative (-) tester probe to terminal 4 (E2G).
  4.  
  5. Blow air into the MAF meter, and check if the voltage fluctuates.
  6.  
  7. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals 2 (THA) and 1 (E2).

  8.  

  1. Apply battery voltage across terminals 3 (+B) and 4 (E2G).
  2.  
  3. Connect the positive (+) tester probe to terminal 5 (VG), and the negative (-) tester probe to terminal 4 (E2G).
  4.  
  5. Blow air into the MAF meter, and check if the voltage fluctuates.
  6.  
  7. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals 2 (THA) and 1 (E2).

  8.  

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the MAF meter connector.
  4.  
  5. Remove the 2 bolts, MAF meter and gasket.
  6.  
  7. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals THA and E2.
  8.  
  9. If the resistance is not as specified, replace the MAF meter.

  11. Connect the MAF meter connector.
  12.  
  13. Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery.
  14.  
  15. Turn the ignition switch ON.
  16.  
  17. Using a voltmeter, connect the positive (+) tester probe to terminal VG, and negative (-) tester probe to terminal E2G.
  18.  
  19. Blow air into the MAF meter, and check that the voltage fluctuates. If operation is not as specified, replace the MAF meter.
  20.  
  21. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
  22.  
  23. Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery.
  24.  
  25. Disconnect the MAF meter connector.
  26.  
  27. Install the gasket to the MAF meter.
  28.  
  29. Install the MAF meter with the 2 bolts.
  30.  
  31. Connect the negative battery cable.
  32.  

  1. Apply battery voltage across terminals 3 (+B) and 4 (E2G).
  2.  
  3. Connect the positive (+) tester probe to terminal 5 (VG), and the negative (-) tester probe to terminal 4 (E2G).
  4.  
  5. Blow air into the MAF meter, and check if the voltage fluctuates.
  6.  
  7. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals 2 (THA) and 1 (E2).

  8.
