If the remaining oil in the removed compressor and magnetic clutch is too small in volume, check for oil leakage. Be sure to use ND-OIL 8 for compressor oil.

Standard: (Oil capacity inside new compressor: 4.6 + 0.51 fl.oz. (130 + 15cc) ) - (Remaining oil amount in the removed compressor) = (Oil amount to be removed when replacing)

When checking the compressor oil level, observe the precautions on the cooler removal/installation.

Place a container under the connection because engine oil will leak out when separating the oil filter bracket.

    4.

  22.
  23. Remove the bolt and disconnect the No. 1 cooler refrigerant suction hose from the compressor.
  24.
  25. Remove the O-ring from the cooler refrigerant suction hose.
    NOTE
Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent moisture and foreign matter from entering.

  26.
  27. Remove the bolt and disconnect the discharge hose from the compressor.
  28.
  29. Remove the O-ring from the discharge hose.
    NOTE
Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent moisture and foreign matter from entering.

  30.
  31. Remove the compressor assembly as follows:

    1. Disconnect the magnetic clutch connector.
    2.
    3. Remove the 2 bolts and nut.
    4.
    5. Using an E8 "torx" socket, remove the stud bolt and compressor.
    6.

  32.

To install:

  1. When replacing the compressor with new one, after gradually removing the refrigerant gas from the service valve, drain the following amount of oil from the new compressor before installation.
    WARNING
Because compressor oil remains in the pipes of the vehicle, if a new compressor and magnetic clutch is installed without removing some oil inside, the oil amount becomes too much, preventing heat exchange in the refrigerant cycle and causing refrigerant failure.

  2.
  3. Install the compressor assembly as follows:

    1. Using an E8 "torx" socket, install the compressor with the stud bolt and tighten to 7 ft. lbs. (10 Nm).
    2.
    3. Install the compressor with the 2 bolts and nut. Temporarily install the bolts and nut.
    4.

  4.
  5. Install the oil filter bracket sub-assembly as follows:

    1. Install a new oil filter bracket gasket and the oil filter bracket with the 2 nuts and bolt and tighten to 15 ft. lbs. (21 Nm).
    2.
    3. Install the wire harness to connect the connector and attach the 2 clamps.
    4.

  6.
  7. Install the oil filter bracket with the bolt and nut. Tighten the bolt and nut to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).

  8.
  9. Install discharge hose as follows:

    1. Remove the attached vinyl tape from the hose.
    2.
    3. Sufficiently apply compressor oil to the new O-ring and fit surface of the compressor. Use compressor oil ND-OIL 8 or equivalent.
    4.
    5. Install O-ring to the discharge hose.
    6.
    7. Install the discharge hose to the compressor with the bolt and tighten to 87 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
    8.

  10.
  11. Install the No. 1 cooler refrigerant suction hose as follows:

    1. Remove the attached vinyl tape from the hose.
    2.
    3. Sufficiently apply compressor oil to the new O-ring and fit surface of the compressor. Use compressor oil ND-OIL 8 or equivalent.
    4.
    5. Install O-ring to the No. 1 cooler refrigerant suction hose.
    6.
    7. Install the No. 1 cooler refrigerant suction hose to the compressor with the bolt and tighten to 87 inch lbs. (10 Nm).
    8.

  12.
