Electric Fan Switch



Removal & Installation
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Wait at least 90 seconds before performing any other work.
  4.  
  5. Disconnect the electric fan switch (temperature switch) connector for electric cooling fan.
  6.  
  7. Using a switch socket or open end wrench, remove the switch from the vehicle.
  8.  
  9. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
  10.  

Testing

  1. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between the terminals.
  2.  
  3. If the ohmmeter reading is above 208°F (98°C), there is continuity.
  4.  
  5. If the ohmmeter reading is below 190°F (88°C), there is no continuity.
  6.  
  7. If the result is not as specified, replace the temperature switch.
  8.  

Removal & Installation



  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Wait at least 90 seconds before performing any work.
  4.  
  5. Drain the engine coolant.
  6.  
  7. Remove the radiator assembly (the fan assembly is attached).
  8.  
  9. Separate the fan assembly from the radiator.
  10.  

To install:

  1. Install the fan assembly to the radiator and tighten the fasteners to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Install the radiator and fan assembly.
  4.  
  5. Refill the engine cooling system.
  6.  
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.
  8.  
  9. Start the engine and check system for coolant leaks.
  10.  
  11. Install the engine under cover No. 1.
  12.
