Diagnosis & Testing
  1. Check the AUTO slide-open operation as follows:


    1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    2.  
    3. If the roof glass is not fully closed, slide or tilt it so that it is fully closed.
    4.  
    5. Press the sliding roof OPEN switch for 0.3 seconds or more. The roof glass should automatically slide open and stop slightly before the fully open position.
    6.

  3. Check the AUTO slide-close operation as follows:


    1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    2.  
    3. Press the sliding roof CLOSE switch for 0.3 seconds or more. The roof glass should automatically close.
    4.

  5. If the CLOSE or OPEN switch is pressed while the roof glass is in motion, the roof glass will stop moving.
  6.  
  7. Check the AUTO tilt-up operation as follows:


    1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    2.  
    3. If the roof glass is not fully closed, slide or tilt it so that it is fully closed.
    4.  
    5. Press the sliding roof up switch for 0.3 seconds or more. The roof glass should automatically tilt upward until it is fully open.
    6.

  9. Check the AUTO tilt-down operation as follows:


    1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
    2.  
    3. When the roof glass is fully tilted upward, press the sliding roof DOWN switch for 0.3 seconds or more. The roof glass should automatically tilt downward until it is fully closed.

Removal & Installation

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Disengage the clips and remove all necessary interior trim components required to remove the roof headliner.
  6.  
  7. Remove the roof headliner.
  8.  
  9. Using a screwdriver, remove the sliding roof guide rail cover. Tape the screwdriver tip before use. Repeat for the left side.
  10.  
  11. Using a screwdriver, remove the sliding roof side garnish. Tape the screwdriver tip before use. Repeat for the left side.
  12.  
  13. Remove the screws and sliding roof glass.
  14.  
  15. Remove the sliding roof weatherstrip.
  16.  
  17. Remove the 2 bolts, then disconnect the clamp and then remove the sliding roof drive gear.
  18.  
  19. Disconnect the drain hoses from the housing.
  20.  
  21. Remove the nuts and bolts, then remove the housing.
  22.  
  23. Remove the sunshade trim as follows:


    1. Remove the screw and stopper.
    2.  
    3. Employ the same manner described above to the other side.
    4.  
    5. Remove the sunshade trim.
    6.

  25. Remove the mounting bolts and drive gear assembly, then disconnect the connector.

To install:

  1. Install the drive gear assembly with the mounting bolts and connect the connector.
  2.  
  3. Install the sunshade trim.
  4.  
  5. Install the sliding roof housing. Install the nuts and bolts.
  6.  
  7. By using a screwdriver which tip is taped around, make the drive cable of the sliding roof slide to align the matchmaker.
  8.  
  9. Check for a difference in level between the sliding roof (weatherstrip) and roof panel.
  10.  
  11. Check for a difference in level between the sliding roof (glass) and roof panel. The clearance should be thoroughly even.
  12.  
  13. Adjust the roof panel by loosening a screw to adjust the sliding roof panel position. When the adjustment has done, tighten the screw there.
  14.  
  15. Connect the drain hoses to the housing.
  16.  
  17. Install the sliding roof drive gear.
  18.  
  19. Install the sliding roof weatherstrip.
  20.  
  21. Install the sliding roof glass and the screws.
  22.  
  23. To reset the zero point for sliding roof by pushing and holding the switch on the -TILT UP- side until the sliding roof tilts all the way up and down a little automatically.
    NOTE
    When the battery negative (-) terminal is disconnected due to the repair, the sliding roof position memory is erased. After reconnecting the battery negative (-) terminal, make sure to reset the zero point. If the reset is not performed, the sliding roof automatic operation will not function.

  25. Adjusting the sliding roof, check there is no water leak.
  26.  
  27. In case of water leak, readjust the sliding roof.
  28.  
  29. Install the sliding roof side garnishes.
  30.  
  31. Install the sliding roof guide rail covers.
  32.  
  33. Install the roof headliner.
  34.  
  35. Install all the interior trim components required to remove the roof headliner.
  36.  
  37. Connect the negative battery cable.
  38.  

Switch

This switch may be by itself, or part of a switch cluster assembly. In any case, the procedure still applies.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove any retaining screws, if equipped.
  6.  
  7. Using a screwdriver, pry out the moonroof switch, located in the overhead console. Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the connector.
  10.  
  11. Installation is the reverse of removal.
