  1. Remove the power window motor.
  2.  
  3. Apply battery voltage to terminals 1 and 2 of the motor connector. Do not apply battery voltage to any terminals except terminals 1 and 2 (rear door) or 4 and 5 (front door).
  4.  
  5. Check that the motor rotates smoothly.
  6.  
  7. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 (rear door) or terminal 4 (front door) and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2 (rear door) or terminal 5 (front door).
  8.  
  9. Check that the motor turns clockwise.
  10.  
  11. Then, reverse the polarity, check that the motor turns the opposite way (counterclockwise).
  12.  
  13. If the motor does not turn replace the motor.
  14.  

Removal & Installation



Motor & Regulator
Front or 2-Door

NOTE
In the right side, work in the same procedure as in the left side.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the power window regulator switch assembly.
  6.  
  7. Using a screwdriver, remove the front door lower frame bracket garnish. Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
  8.  
  9. Using a screwdriver, remove the front door inside handle bezel plug.
  10.  
  11. Remove the 2 screws, then using a screwdriver, remove the front door trim board.
  12.  
  13. Remove the inside handle then disconnect the 2 cables from the front door lock assembly. Disconnect the connector.
  14.  
  15. Disconnect each connector and remove the front door service hole cover. Remove the remained tape on the body side.
  16.  
  17. Disconnect the connector, then remove the 3 bolt and the front No.1 speaker assembly.
    NOTE
    Insert a shop rag inside the door panel to prevent scratching the glass.

  18.  
  19. Open the door glass until the bolts appear in the service hole.
  20.  
  21. Remove the 2 bolts and door glass. Pull the glass upward to remove it.
  22.  
  23. Disconnect the connector.
  24.  
  25. Loosen the temporarily installed bolt. When the temporarily installed bolt is removed, the front door window regulator might drop and be deformed.
  26.  
  27. Remove the 5 bolts and front door window regulator.
  28.  
  29. Using a torx wrench (T25), remove the 3 screws and the motor assembly.
  30.  
  31. Remove the front door glass run.
  32.  
  33. Remove the bolt and the front door frame sub-assy front lower.
  34.  
  35. Remove the bolt and the front door frame sub-assy rear lower.
  36.  

To install:

  1. Install a new front door glass run to the door panel.
  2.  
  3. Apply MP grease to the sliding and rotating parts of the regulator assembly.
  4.  
  5. If the jam protection does not function properly, perform the following procedure:
    NOTE
    It is necessary to reset the power window motor (in the initial position for the limit switch) when separating the window regulator from the power window motor or operating the window regulator with the door glass not installed.




    1. Remove the power window motor. Place the matchmarks on the power window motor and window regulator gear.
    2.  
    3. Connect the power window motor and power window switch to the wire harness of the vehicle.
    4.  
    5. Turn the ignition switch ON and operate the power window switch to idle the power window motor in the up side direction for more than 6 rotations or less than 10 rotations (4 seconds or more).
    6.  
    7. Assemble the power window motor and regulator.
      NOTE
      The motor should be installed when the regulator arm is in the middle, not around the upper end (more than 50 mm clearance is necessary from the upper end). Align the matchmarks on the power window motor and window regulator gear when installing the power window motor.

    8.  
    9. Assemble the power window regulator and door glass.
      CAUTION
      Never rotate the motor to the down direction until the installation of the window glass is completed.

    10.

  7. Install the temporarily installed bolt securely.
  8.  
  9. Install the temporarily installed bolt to the window regulator to the front door panel, and install the front door window regulator temporarily.
  10.  
  11. Tighten the 5 bolts and the temporarily installed bolt.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect the connector.
  14.  
  15. Install the front door glass with the 2 bolts.
    NOTE
    When the installation point of the front door glass does not match, adjust the regulator position by manual operation.

  16.  
  17. Connect the power window switch to the wire harness and turn the ignition switch ON.
  18.  
  19. Repeat UP and DOWN operation several times manually.
  20.  
  21. Check if AUTO UP and AUTO DOWN operates in the automatic operation. Note that the jam protection function does not operate just after resetting. Reset the regulator again when performing the reverse operating after closing the window fully by AUTO UP operation.
  22.  
  23. Inspect power window function.
  24.  
  25. Install a new service hole cover to the door panel. When installing the service hole cover, pull out the links and connectors through the service hole cover. There should be no wrinkles or folds after attaching the service hole cover.
  26.  
  27. Connect the negative battery cable.
  28.  

Rear Door

NOTE
In the right side, work in the same procedure as in the left side.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove the power window regulator switch.
  6.  
  7. Using a screwdriver, remove the rear door inside handle bezel plug. Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
  8.  
  9. Remove the 2 screws, then using a screwdriver, remove the rear door trim board.
  10.  
  11. Remove the inside handle then disconnect the 2 cables from the rear door lock assembly.
  12.  
  13. Disconnect each connector and remove the rear door service hole cover. Remove the remained tape on the body side.
  14.  
  15. Remove the rear door glass run
  16.  
  17. Remove the screw, then remove the 2 bolts and rear door window frame rear lower.
  18.  
  19. Remove the rear door quarter window glass.
    NOTE
    Insert a shop rag inside the door panel to prevent scratching the glass.

  20.  
  21. Open the door glass.
  22.  
  23. Tilt the door glass and disconnect the roller of the regulator from the channel to remove the door glass. Pull the glass upward to remove it.
  24.  
  25. Disconnect the connector and loosen the temporarily installed bolt.
    NOTE
    When the temporarily installed bolt is removed, the rear door window regulator might drop and be deformed.

  26.  
  27. Remove the 3 bolts and rear door window regulator.
  28.  
  29. Using a torx wrench (T25), remove the 3 screws and the motor assembly.
  30.  

To install:

  1. Apply MP grease to the sliding and rotating parts of the regulator assembly.

  3. If the jam protection dose not function properly, perform the following procedure:

  9. Tighten the 3 bolts and the temporarily installed bolt.

  11. Connect the connector.
  12.  
  13. Install the rear door glass.
  14.  
  15. Connect the power window switch to the wire harness and turn the ignition switch ON.
  16.  
  17. Repeat UP and DOWN operation several times manually.
  18.  
  19. Check if AUTO UP and AUTO DOWN operates in the automatic operation. Note that the jam protection function does not operate just after resetting. Reset the regulator again when performing the reverse operating after closing the window fully by AUTO UP operation.

  21. Inspect the power window function.

  23. Install a new service hole cover to the door panel. When installing the service hole cover, pull out the links and connectors through the service hole cover. There should be no wrinkles or folds after attaching the service hole cover. After attaching the service hole cover, sealing condition should be confirmed.

  25. Connect the negative battery cable.

Switch

This switch may be by itself, or part of a switch cluster assembly. In any case, the procedure still applies.

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section.
  2.  
  3. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  4.  
  5. Remove any retaining screws, if equipped.
  6.  
  7. Using a screwdriver, pry out the power window regulator switch. Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the connector.
  10.  
  11. Installation is the reverse of removal.
