Removal & Installation

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
    NOTE
Do not support the weight of the vehicle on the suspension arm; the arm will deform under its weight.

  2.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:

    Wheel

Brake hose and the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) speed sensor wire from the strut

Sway bar link from the strut

  4.
  5. Matchmark on the strut lower bracket and camber adjust cam, if equipped.
  6.
  7. Remove or disconnect the following:

Strut lower end from the steering knuckle lower arm

3 upper strut mounting plate-to-upper wheel arch nuts

    Strut

  8.

To install:

  1. Align the upper suspension support hole with the strut piston or end, so they fit properly.
  2.
  3. Install or connect the following:
    NOTE
Do not use an impact wrench to tighten the nut.

Strut piston rod end to the upper suspension support. Tighten the new nut to 29-40 ft. lbs. (39-54 Nm).
