Removal & Installation

  1. Drain the engine coolant.
  2.  
  3. Remove the engine under cover.
  4.  
  5. Remove the air cleaner cap w/inlet.
  6.  
  7. Remove the radiator grille.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the radiator inlet hose from the radiator assembly.
  10.  
  11. Disconnect the radiator outlet hose from the radiator assembly.
  12.  
  13. Separate the hood lock assembly, as follows:
    1. Detach the claws and remove the hood lock control cover.
    2.  
    3. Remove the 3 bolts, and separate the hood lock.
    4.

  15. Remove the radiator upper support sub-assembly, as follows:
    1. Remove the bolt and separate the suction tube bracket.
    2.  
    3. Disconnect the horn connectors.
    4.  
    5. Remove the 5 bolts and the radiator support upper.
    6.

  17. Remove the fan shroud, as follows:
    1. Disconnect the engine coolant reservoir hose.
    2.  
    3. Disconnect the cooling fan ECU connectors.
    4.  
    5. Remove the 4 bolts and the fan shroud.
    6.

  19. Remove the 2 radiator support cushions from the radiator supports.
  20.  
  21. Remove the 3 bolts and the left radiator support.
  22.  
  23. Remove the 3 bolts and the right radiator support.
  24.  
  25. Remove the radiator assembly, as follows:
    1. Remove the 4 bolts, and remove the radiator from the radiator support lowers.
    2.  
    3. Lift the radiator, then remove it.
      WARNING
      Do not allow the cooler condenser and radiator to come into contact with each other.

To install:

  1. Install the radiator assembly, as follows:
    1. Attach the radiator from the upper part.
      WARNING
      Do not allow the cooler condenser and radiator to come into contact with each other.

    2.  
    3. Install the radiator and radiator support lowers with the 4 bolts. Tighten to 44 inch lbs. (5 Nm).

  3. Install the left radiator support and secure with the 3 bolts. Tighten as follows:
    1. Tighten bolts A to 44 inch lbs. (5.0 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Tighten bolt B to 35 inch lbs. (3.9 Nm).

  5. Install the right radiator support and secure with the 3 bolts. Tighten as follows:
    1. Tighten bolts A to 44 inch lbs. (5.0 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Tighten bolt B to 35 inch lbs. (3.9 Nm).

  7. Install the 2 radiator support cushions to the radiator supports.
  8.  
  9. Install the fan shroud:
    1. Install the 4 bolts and fan shroud to the radiator with the 4 bolts. Tighten to 69 inch lbs. (7.8 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Install the radiator reserve tank hose.
    4.

  11. Install the radiator support upper with the 5 bolts. Tighten to 62 inch lbs. (7.0 Nm).
    NOTE
    Secure the upper member with the retaining claws of the radiator upper support.

    1. Connect the horn connector.
    2.  
    3. Install the suction tube bracket with the bolt and tighten to 87 inch lbs. (9.8 Nm).

  13. Install the hood lock assembly:
    1. Install the hood lock with the 3 bolts and tighten to 71 inch lbs. (8.0 Nm).
    2.  
    3. Install the hood lock cover.
    4.  
    5. Install the 2 screws.
    6.

  15. Connect the radiator inlet and outlet hoses to the radiator.
  16.  
  17. Install the air cleaner cap w/inlet.
  18.  
  19. Adjust hood lock assembly, as follows:
    1. Adjust the hood lock:
    2.  
    3. Using a prytool, or a screwdriver with its tip taped to prevent damage, disengage the clips and remove the hood lock release lever cover.

    5. Loosen the 3 bolts.
    6.  
    7. Adjust the hood lock position so that the lock will come in, by moving the lock.

    9. Tighten the hood lock bolts after the adjustment to 71 inch lbs. (8 Nm).

  21. Add the proper type and amount of engine coolant.
  22.  
  23. Check for engine coolant leaks.
  24.  
  25. Install the engine under cover.
  26.  
  27. If necessary, perform the initialization procedure, as outlined in the Chassis Electrical System.
