Stabilizer Bar (Sway Bar) & Links

Removal & Installation



  1. Remove upper link nuts and separate the links from the stabilizer bar with Remover MB-991113.
  2.  
  3. Remove front bumper valence.
  4.  
  5. Remove stabilizer retainer bolts and remove retainers.
  6.  
  7. Remove stabilizer bar.
  8.  
  9. Remove lower link nuts and bolts and remove links

To install:

  1. Center stabilizer bar on top of the frame rails and install retainers and bolts. Tighten bolts to 45 ft. lbs. (61 Nm).
  2.  
  3. Position links on axle brackets and into the stabilizer bar. Install lower link bolts and nuts and tighten to 75 ft. lbs. (102 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install upper link nuts and tighten to 45 ft. lbs. (61 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install bumper valence.
  8.  

  1. Raise and support the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
  4.  
  5. Remove the upper stabilizer link bolts at the stabilizer bar.
  6.  
  7. Remove the stabilizer bar bushing clamps from the frame .
  8.  
  9. Remove the stabilizer bar from the vehicle.

To install:

  1. Install the stabilizer bar to the vehicle.
  2.  
  3. Install the stabilizer bar bushing clamps. Tighten the nuts to 110 ft. lbs. (149 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the upper stabilizer link bolts and washer at the stabilizer bar. Tighten the bolt to 100 ft. lbs. (136 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the tire and wheel assembly.
  8.  
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10.
