Removal & Installation

  1. Remove the upper engine mount.
  2.  
  3. Remove the drive belt from the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the power steering hoses from the pump
  6.  
  7. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts.
  8.  
  9. Remove the power steering pump from the vehicle.

To install:

  1. Install the power steering pump to the engine.
    NOTE
    Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts, and tighten the power steering pump mounting bolts to 25 ft. lbs. (34 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install the power steering hoses to the pump.
  6.  
  7. Install the drive belt.
  8.  
  9. Install the upper engine mount.
  10.  
  11. Fill the power steering pump with power steering fluid.
  12.  
  13. Bleed the power steering system.
  14.  

  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the intake manifold cover.
  4.  
  5. Remove the drive belt.
  6.  
  7. Remove the drive belt idler pulley mounting bolt. Remove idler pulley.
  8.  
  9. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
  10.  
  11. Remove the engine mount strut.
  12.  
  13. Using the J 25034-C pulley remover, remove the power steering pump pulley.
  14.  
  15. Remove engine lift bracket bolts.
  16.  
  17. Remove engine lift bracket.
    NOTE
    Use an appropriate tool to remove the power steering fluid from the reservoir before removing the hoses from the pump.

  19. Remove the power steering gear inlet pressure hose.
  20.  
  21. Remove the power steering return hose.
  22.  
  23. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts.
  24.  
  25. Remove the power steering pump.

To install:

  1. Install the power steering pump.
  2.  
  3. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts and tighten to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  4.  
  5. Install and tighten the power steering return hose.
  6.  
  7. Install the power steering gear inlet pressure hose. Use a new O-ring seal for installation.
  8.  
  9. Tighten the power steering gear inlet pressure hose fitting to 20 ft. lbs. (27 Nm).
  10.  
  11. Install the engine lift bracket and bolts, tighten the bolts to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
  12.  
  13. Using the J 25033-C pulley installer, install the power steering pump pulley.
  14.  
  15. Install the engine mount strut.
  16.  
  17. Install the air cleaner assembly.
  18.  
  19. Install the drive belt idler pulley and tighten the bolt to 37 ft. lbs. (50 Nm).
  20.  
  21. Install the drive belt.
  22.  
  23. Install the intake manifold cover.
  24.
