Diagnosis & Testing

Check driver window switch as follows:

  1. Ignition OFF , disconnect the harness connector at the driver window switch.
  2.  
  3. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminals D and C and the B+ circuit terminal E with the LR switch in the INACTIVE position.
  4.  
  5. If less than infinite resistance, replace the driver window switch.
  6.  
  7. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal D and the B+ circuit terminal E with the switch in the UP position.
  8.  
  9. If greater than 2 ohms, replace the driver window switch.
  10.  
  11. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal C and the B+ circuit terminal E with the switch in the DOWN position.
  12.  
  13. If greater than 2 ohms, replace the driver window switch.
  14.  
  15. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminals G and H and the B+ circuit terminal E with the RR switch in the INACTIVE position.
  16.  
  17. If less than infinite resistance, replace the driver window switch.
  18.  
  19. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal G and the B+ circuit terminal E with the switch in the UP position.
  20.  
  21. If greater than 2 ohms, replace the driver window switch.
  22.  
  23. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal H and the B+ circuit terminal E with the switch in the DOWN position.
  24.  
  25. If greater than 2 ohms, replace the driver window switch.
  26.  
  27. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminals B and C and the B+ circuit terminal E with the passenger switch in the INACTIVE position.
  28.  
  29. If less than infinite resistance, replace the driver window switch.
  30.  
  31. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal B and the B+ circuit terminal E with the switch in the UP position.
  32.  
  33. If greater than 2 ohms, replace the driver window switch.
  34.  
  35. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal C and the B+ circuit terminal E with the switch in the DOWN position.
  36.  
  37. If greater than 2 ohms, replace the driver window switch.
  38.  
  39. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminals E and A and the B+ circuit terminal E with the driver switch in the INACTIVE position.
  40.  
  41. If less than infinite resistance, replace the driver window switch.
  42.  
  43. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal E and the B+ circuit terminal E with the switch in the UP position.
  44.  
  45. If greater than 2 ohms, replace the driver window switch.
  46.  
  47. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal A and the B+ circuit terminal E with the switch in the DOWN position.
  48.  
  49. If greater than 2 ohms, replace the driver window switch.

Check passenger window switch as follows:

  1. Ignition OFF , disconnect the harness connector at the appropriate passenger window switch.
  2.  
  3. Test for infinite resistance between the signal terminals F and G and the B+ circuit terminal A with the switch in the INACTIVE position.
  4.  
  5. If less than infinite resistance, replace the appropriate passenger window switch.
  6.  
  7. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal G and the B+ circuit terminal A with the switch in the UP position.
  8.  
  9. If greater than 2 ohms, replace the appropriate passenger window switch.
  10.  
  11. Test for less than 2 ohms of resistance between the signal terminal F and the B+ circuit terminal A with the switch in the DOWN position.
  12.  
  13. If greater than 2 ohms, replace the appropriate passenger window switch.

Check window motor as follows:

  1. Install a 30-amp fused jumper wire between the control terminal A and 12 volts. Momentarily install a jumper wire between the control terminal B and ground. The appropriate window motor should perform the UP or DOWN function.
  2.  
  3. If the function does not perform as specified, replace the appropriate window motor.
  4.  
  5. Reverse the jumper wires. The appropriate window motor should perform the DOWN or UP function.
  6.  
  7. If the function does not perform as specified, replace the appropriate window motor.

Removal & Installation
Window Motor & Regulator
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Open the front door.
  4.  
  5. Remove the front door trim panel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the water deflector.
  8.  
  9. Disconnect the electrical connector from the front door window regulator motor.
  10.  
  11. Remove the window from the regulator. Raise the window. Tape the window into position
  12.  
  13. Remove the front door window regulator .

  15. Remove the 3 screws from the regulator motor.
  16.  
  17. Remove the window motor from regulator.

To install:

  1. Align the front door window regulator motor assembly to the front door window regulator.
  2.  
  3. Install the front door window regulator motor to regulator screws. 
  4.  
  5. Position the front door window regulator through the opening in the door.
  6.  
  7. Install the front door window regulator to door screws and tighten to 89 inch. lbs. (10 Nm).
  8.  
  9. Connect the electrical connector to the front door window regulator motor.
  10.  
  11. Install the water deflector.
  12.  
  13. Install the front door trim panel.
  14.  
  15. Close the front door.
  16.  

Window Switch
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Remove the door trim panel.
  4.  
  5. Release the tabs and push the switch bezel from the door trim.
  6.  
  7. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the switch.
  8.  
  9. Remove the switch from the bezel.

To install:

  1. Install the switch to the bezel.
  2.  
  3. Connect the electrical connectors to the switch.
  4.  
  5. Install the switch bezel to the door trim.
  6.  
  7. Install the door trim panel.
