Removal & Installation



Lower
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the tire and wheel.
  6.  
  7. Remove the rear spring.
  8.  
  9. Remove the lower control arm to support assembly bolt and nut.
  10.  
  11. Remove the lower control arm from the vehicle.
  12.  
  13. Remove the lower control arm spring insulators. Inspect the lower spring insulator for damage and replace as necessary.

To Assemble:

  1. Install the lower control arm spring insulators.
  2.  
  3. Position the lower control arm to the support assembly.
  4.  
  5. Install the lower control arm to support assembly bolt and nut, and tighten the nut and bolt to 81 ft. lbs. (110 Nm).
  6.  
  7. Install the rear spring.
  8.  
  9. Install the tire and wheel.
  10.  
  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12.  
  13. Check the rear alignment.
  14.  

Upper
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions Section.
  2.  
  3. Raise and support the vehicle.
  4.  
  5. Remove the tire and wheel.
  6.  
  7. If equipped with an Antilock Brake System (ABS) system, disconnect the ABS harness connector and route the harness aside. Note the routing for assembly.

  9. Remove the upper control arm to support assembly bolt.

  11. Remove the upper control arm to knuckle bolt and nut.
  12.  
  13. Remove the upper control arm from the vehicle through the wheel well opening.
  14.  

To Assemble:

  1. Position the upper control arm to the support assembly and knuckle.
  2.  
  3. Install the upper control arm to knuckle bolt and nut. Hand tighten only.
  4.  
  5. Install the upper control arm to support assembly bolt.
  6.  
  7. Tighten the upper control arm to support assembly bolt to 44 ft. lbs. (60 Nm) plus 60 degrees.
  8.  
  9. Tighten the upper control arm to knuckle bolt to 81 ft. lbs. (110 Nm) plus 70 degrees.
  10.  
  11. If equipped with ABS, connect the ABS harness connector. Route the harness as previously noted.
  12.  
  13. Install the tire and wheel.
  14.  
  15. Lower the vehicle.
