The Knock sensor (KS) is attached to the cylinder block. It senses engine knocking using a piezoelectric element. A knocking vibration from the cylinder block is sensed as vibrational pressure. This pressure is converted into a voltage signal and sent to the ECM.

Removal & Installation

Nissan Maxima 2007-2008

  1. Remove the engine assembly.
  2.  
  3. Install the engine on the engine stand.
  4.  
  5. Remove the Knock sensor.
  6.  

To install:

  1. Installation is reverse of removal.
  2.  

Testing



Specific to:

Nissan Maxima 2007-2008

  1. Check resistance between Knock sensor terminal 1 and ground.

    Resistance: 532 to 588 Kiliohms at 68°F (20°C)
